The xcr's are way smaller than the regular xc rears, even though they are both technically 20's. I would say at least a full inch in actual height and width from just looking at them. Guys I have seen either run xcr rears with xc's up front, or xc rears with the xct fronts.

I have them on my TRX250R on a spare set of rims. I love them, they hook up great and they are actually smaller than regular 20 inch tires. They hook up on alll types of terrain. Best set of tires for all around you can buy. I use them to trail ride through the woods and noraml trails.

If your going to be racing XC then go with the XC's for the extra ground clearance.

Holeshots seem to have better side bite than the regular Razor's.

for XC/GNCC racing.....for tires i am thinkin of XCTS up front......and u said XC/XCR/XCT would work.............but for the ground clearance...get tha XC over tha XCR how about XCT???.......if u had to choose...out of tha back set...anybody....tell me what 1's adn why u would....give good inFO.......i dont need it NOW,....But in the future.....I will:D :) i will refeer back to this...when i am gettin tires....so it would help me out alot

I would pick the 20" XC's because they handle better than the 22's. There are more dry races than muddy ones.

cletusEX
04-09-2003, 02:56 PM
I would get the 20" xc's also. i race cross country and ran 20" xcr's. the xcr's are great tires it's just they are shorter and narrower than regular xc's or razr's. i would notice my skid plate dragging and hitting rocks when others with the xc's or razr's wouldn't have a problem. sometimes that little more height makes a difference.

i run xcr's on the back and love them, the ground clearance isnt too big of an issue to me. (so what if i need to rock back and forth once or twice, twice a lap) i like the traction of the xcr's alot, i could tell the biggest difference over my old 20 inch shredders (i have never run xc's) on any muddy sections. any one behind you will hate your xcr's, they throw roost like mad (even on dry stuff).

i have run 23 inch front and didnt like them as much as 22's. i thought they rolled a little too much in the corners.

MojaveKing
04-09-2003, 04:16 PM
how about the Xc or xct on throwin roost?? wet and dry

i have run 23 inch front and didnt like them as much as 22's. i thought they rolled a little too much in the corners. what u sayin.......ya i dont want to be to tippy in tha corners......xct or xc...up front?? size?? difference of xct & xc for Front?

RIDER11X

I run XC's front and rear and love them! I have 0 complaints about them. And you would probably do well to stay with a mid sized tire set up on a Mojave to keep power and not sacrifice the looks of your mid size machine. I don't want to run 22" rears on my 400 and sacrifice power.

ic.....so get the XC...for the Mojave......xc rear....and XCT up front??? 23" xct or 22 xc up front??.....i dont want it to be to tippy...in the corners... thanksh

how about if i had a crf450.....really wouldnt matter for GNCC...i would prolyl get 23" XCT up front.(if not tippy) and xct or xc in the rear 20 or 22

my .02 which prolly wont me a thing to you guys, but i will prolly never get holeshots. other than the regualar MX ones. (18'') Maxxis lasts longer, and i read in dirtwheels, that on the new MXR's or what ever, after 4 races it was down to somethin like 60 or 70% tred. An numerious people i talk to all say, that they wont last that long, they hook up good, but the tred life is non comparable to that of Maxxis Razrs. I will prolly always run Maxxis razrs. I havent riddin holeshots so i dont know but after 4 races... and half the tire is almost gone? plus the price.... After my razrs die out im gunna get the Razr II's and see whats what

I get almost two seasons out of a set of Holeshot XC's with no problem.
And RAZOR 2's are very comparable to the Holeshot XC's just a different design. No flame, just trying to help.

I can only give advice on the things I know. I never tried XCR's to give and pros or cons other than they are slightly lower. The same story holds true with the XCT fronts, only I know that they are obviously taller, and not many pros run them in gncc's. Sorry.

i run 22 inch xc's on the front and 20 inch xcr's on the back. 20 inch xc's on the back will also do well, its just a matter of losing a half inch of ground clearance for a little better straight foward grip and a little better sliding. the 23 inch fronts will roll over a little when turning before they grip.

my set up is 20 inch xcr's and 22 inch xc's. this is a great set up. keep in mind that most pros run a 22 inch front tire

RIDER11X
04-14-2003, 06:59 AM
Yea, the XCT series was designed to be run with the fronts and rear at the same time. I have heard of another EXRIDER compaining of lazy steering with the 20" rear combined with the 23" front. Do a search of my threads and you will see a thread about the XCR's that may help you out.

The taller the front tire and smaller the rear, the more rear traction... If you have stock shocks, or shocks that you can not adjust your ride height. This may also cause your atv to push more in turns... Which maybe a negative.

I personally would recommend either a 21" or 22" front tire for your Mojave if you go with the 20" XCR's rears. I think the 23's would be a little too much. Again, my opinion.

Note: I saw the pictures of the new XCR front tires in either 21" or 22".... WOW! :D

What do you look to gain by wanting to go with 23" fronts anyhow. Your lowest ground clearance is most likley your rear skidplate so, the heigth there with 20" XCR's is going to ditate that. In the front going taller means the center of gravity of the machine will be higher by approx. 1/2" which does however slightly takes away from your cornering ability. going as low as possible while maitaining enough clearance for most riding is usually best. I ran 21" fronts and they grab more at the sides of ruts and roots than the 22" tires. And, look at the pro's set ups. They spend many days testing products to see what works and what don't. Most Gncc pro's run 22" fronts with 20" rears in either a Razor or a Holeshot tire in mostly all conditions, and they race alot of deeply rutted trails where it is possible to get hung up but they use good line selection to keep them from getting stuck and using the shorter tires to help corner the best that they can.

Sorry to ramble on, but I,m trying to get you the answers that your looking for. This may mean nothing to you and you may just go with your personal preferance which may work for you.
