I have a 2002 400ex totally stock motorwise want better sound and stronger mid range mostly trailride, playrace. Also what else could I do along with it to help performance looking to stay around 300-350 dollars simple stuff not looking to tear into motor yet(cam, piston etc.) what jetting would be with pipe you suggest what kind of hp boost could I expect. Please help poorboy who needs to spend his money wisely.

There's a guy on here that Has a brand new Hetrick Racing full exhaust. I want to say he want $375 for it. If your gonna spend that much, go ahead and get a full system. Everybody says that they only going to install a slip-on and that's it, but it only starts there. That's what we all say. I'll bet money within 2 years you'll have at least a cam in it. So try to find this guy, I want to say his name is OYNOT400. Do a search on Hetrick Pipe or Hetrick Exhaust. You won't be disappointed. It is a great system. It has explosive power all the way from low to top! ;) If this is still out of your range, go with the White Bros. slip on. You can get it from Magicracing.com for around $300.:D

Why not white brothers? Every test I read they rank at the top.
LRD, hetricks, duncan, sparks are all great. Look on ebay for deals. Good luck!

Every one starts out, the way you are, so you should get probably the white bros pipe the R series is louder than the E if thats what you want, and then get a k&n filter and a couple of jets and that should keep you in your 350.00 range.

white bro's has a bad reputation of breaking but i dont know if its the slip on or whole system that break, my friend (stroked300ex) had one on his 300 and i think someone bumped into him and it snapped???? go figure, you best bet is buy that hetrick pipe its killer or save up a lil more money and go with curtis spark, just just my .02
