Does any buddy out there have a 500ex kit from FST? how does it work, what is the compression on it and can it run pump gas?
Do I need the oil cooler kit they sell or is it cool enough with the stock? I have a full E-series and a stage2 hotcam. Is it faster than a raptor cuse they can lose me with the 440 in a drag race?

No pun to Mickey at FST intended at all here, but I have a friend with a locally built 440(on gas) that outran a FST 500 on alcohol at Little Sahara a few weekends ago! Mickey does say however that he builds his motors for reliability and not to be the fastest out there. I do believe he usually builds them to be able to run on pump gas too!

all i know is im having him build me a 500 this winter im just waiting to get my chassis upgraded first.you can get it built to run on whatever fuel you want.as far as the 440 smokin a 500 that can be due to many things, rider, considering a 500 on alcohol will spin where the 440 will hook up and go just to name a few.you have to realize his specialty is xc racing not drags as far as i know, and reliability is his middle name.if you have a 440 i think you should already be running an oversized oil cooler not to mention a 500 stroker, thats just my opinion but the kit includes his cooler anyways.he will also undercut gears to help out the tranny.pm me if you want to know all that his kit includes,i just talked to him last week and i'll click and paste you all he told me.

hey man i have fst 500 bike and it hasnt been beat by any 440 or 660 for that matter. mine is really pretty damn fast. it has been real reliable to. not to say i wont get outran just that i hasnt happened yet with another fourstroke. most banshee cant believe how fast i am. i really like it though and i run the oil cooler and my rockers lookk like the first time i tore it down, which is pretty much new. later man

that all depends on who you talk to,who knows how these people were maintaining their engines.besides that, that whole thing was from like 2 years ago or more when it was all R&D and getting the bugs worked out.look at the facts, youre taking a 400 cc engine and converting it to 500.on top of all this i consider customer service a huge factor,i posted a thread to the general public last week regarding this kit and he personally responded to it within 5 hours and responded to all of my pm's within 24 hours.try getting that from some of the other top names out there.

The FST 500 is a 500 stroker/big bore kit for the 400EX. you can get it with four stroke tech. the starter kit is 800$ and you get the stroker crank piston sleeve and gasket.

i just sent you a pm 440ex,i forgot to mention the kit is $2,800 and the i would highly recommend getting the gears undercut to help out the tranny for $300.dustin,fst stands for four stroke tech, you'll need to contact mickey dunlap for more specifics as to what the kit includes, its not a bolt on,you send him your motor and get it back ready to bolt back in.type "stroker kits" in the search engine on this site and you can find his number.definately fast as h*** and worth the money.i wouldnt even think about it until you get a new chassis with with shocks, bigger a-arms and axle and a +2 swingarm minimal, although you might want to go with the +4 because this kit screams.

cool how much r those kits and do they have a website i never heard of them. thanx i kinda like puttin my own stuff together tho cuz its cheaper i dont really wanna go with a kit but if its worth it i will. thanx

For Dirt Only builds some pretty powerfull 500s (493 with 2 bores left that make it a 505) heill build them for the average trail rider to the baddest sand drag motor you want. tons of torque and power. The fully done ones are too much power for the trails. I run a 463 of his and will be stepping up to a 493 for next race season if not earlier. I love the motor I have now. Just want to be bigger. ShaneB be sure to let us know how that motor does in the sand!!!!! all we have around here to test it out in is woods. and we can't utilize that motor to it's full potential in the woods.
