400ex axle in a 300ex?

Can anybody tell me if a 400ex axle will fit into a a 300ex. I bent my 300 exle beyond repair and a buddy sold me his 400 axle for 25 bucks, i need to know if it will fit

I have had this issue come up for me a few times. I always go to www.servicehonda.com and use their online microfiche. I looked up the part number of a 300ex axle and then a 400ex axle. They are not the same part number...

They're definately not the same part number because the 400 axle should be longer. That doesn't mean it won't fit though. I'm not saying it will fit though. This question has been asked before and if I remember correctly most people say it will not fit. I like to try and prove people wrong though. If you already have the axle you have nothing to lose in trying it. You have to take your bent axle out anyway. When you get your old axle out compare it to the 400 axle and see if there is much difference. If it looks like it will work then try it. Measure the difference in length and report back to us. I have the 300 axle out. They look the same, but the 400 axle looks a little wider outside of the sprocket. The main part of it that goes in the alxle carrier looks identical. I'm putting it in on saturday morning, i'll report back when i find out

the axle didn't work in the 300 ex. i had to take back the 400 axle and buy a durablue. i don't have the quad anymore anyway cause my truck's engine blew up so i had to sell it to get a new truck

the space where the axle slides in the axle carrier was about a quater inch to long. If it would have been any shorter it would have fit, but oh well
