My 400ex is bugging the chit out of me with this jetting, ive been using the dynojets instructions, using a dj146 main with the airscrew out 3.5 turns and needle clip on the 3rd groove. Today i went from the recommended dj146 to a dj142 yet the plug is still black, should i try turning in the airscrew till the plug is the right color, after putting in the dj146. It seems to run perfect but, but i want the plug too be right.

that sucks, but with all the engine wise people around here i would think that someone would have an idea of wtf is wrong with my adjustments.

how clean is your filter? That will throw off your jetting if it is dirty. Clean it and rejet.

By looking at how many threads you have put up. Seems to me that you would be on target.

But hey I had the same problem with jetting and no body responed to my post to help me out. I had to PM certain people to help me out.
I would go that route if I was you.

The memebers don't like to respone to jetting questions, i think
Just .02

Basically, it is just that the word jetting is in every other thread title. :eek2: People just need to look for past info, because jetting specs for every pipe, every motor setup, every temperature variation, and every altitude variation are bound to be on this site somewhere. Not that this applies to you Toby, just saying. Actually, if it runs good, it is most likely set up just fine. I cannot rely on plug color in the least bit due to the use of detergents and stuff in fuels, especially in four strokes. Do not worry about the plug color. If it is white or gray now, it will most likely be so with a 400 main jet, it is just because detergents in fuels wash deposits from the plugs. With pipes, you can basically run what they suggest and be pretty close to spot on... Good luck. :)
