Hopefully if I can find one I will be purchasing an LT 250R if not I may have to settle (no offense) on one of the billions of heavily modified 400exs avaliable in my area anyways if anyone has got pics of their own LT 250Rs post them.
Thanks

are 1986 lt250r's stock powervalved? or did that start in 1990 for the LT?

I believe that the first quadracers to get the powervalve were the 1987 models.
But i am not 100% sure.

Yes, '87 was the first year for the powervalved motors.

Cool I love the looks of Quad Racers there isnt a quad that even comes close to looking as amazing IMO anyways so far Im liking Guy's and Skot's pics the best. But I like to see any pics of them they dont ever seem to get discussed much and seem to have almost been foregotten considering they were the grand pappys of all other Racer quads including that copy cat TRX 250R which gets all the attention these days.
I have always found it stupid why the Honda 250Rs got way more respect than the Suzukis...considering from this old arcticle in my opinion the Suzuki seems to be described as the superior machine to the others IMO anyways.

I find it very hard to view the LT as an equal to an R. Both of my friends have them, and the difference in handling (and styling, IMO) is dramatic. The R is just a much more well rounded machine. I'm not saying that they're crap by any means, because they got the business going in the right direction, but Honda took Suzuki's ideas and improved upon them and ultimately came out with a better machine. One thing I have always considered is the number of R's out there compared to the number of LT's. There must be some reason so many people chose the Honda way back when... :D Still definitely a great quad though. Check out Quadracer.com (http://www.quadracer.com)

Ooops are all that rambling I forgot my proof...the old arcticle here you guys check it out for yourselves when I read it, it sounds to me as if the LT 250R is the better machine it says it has more ground clearance, better handling, more power from bottom to mid and better suspension.
Heres the arcticle http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Dunes/6243/ultimate.htm

But it really angers me:mad: to see hwo much attention the TRX 250R has robbed from the LT and has left the Quadracer foregotten and other than reliablility I cant find a reason for it. From the research I have done the only place where the TRX 250R excels slightly over the LT250R is on reliability.
From the research I have done I have found the LT250R to have superior suspension, more ground clearance, better handling, better gearing, more power from bottom to top.
ANd IMO the Quadracers except for the 91-92 (dont like the green blotches) look way better.

"Which 250 is best? It depends. The differences are so minute that, as we said earlier, on one of the three can and will win"

Is what the article said at the end, and that is just personal web site, someone may have just typed it out on to it (no offense if it was you) just I/we dont know if who wrote it. I didnt read the whole thing. Heavy _D has an LT 250 he will have some good pics :D

IMO the TRX 250R must have something over the LT otherwise there would be more LT's in the high rankings (do they still make parts for the LT's, that may be why...)

I have had 2 Honda 250r's a 88 and now a 86'. I have also owned a 88 lt 250r. There is no comparison - reliability was the biggest issue. I had to buy a fanny tool pack to keep fixing the zuk while out on the trail. And everytime I rode the zuk I broke it's frame. The zuk and Honda were comparable in a drag race with maybe the zuk edging out the Honda. If the Lt is so great then why is the Honda still raced today. The rear swing arm adjustment for the chain really suxed also.

I really didn't get the article that you are refering too, it sounds like a bunch of buddies getting together and riding on a track - not test riders riding the same bikes and see which lap times were better and their opinions of the bikes...

That 1987 LT250R's engine is 100% original in the pics I posted and the pics 4punksdad posted. My uncle bought that quad brand new and rode it totally stock until I bought it off him in 2002. I put in new reeds, an air filter and bought a RPM rear axle for it with Holeshot rears (yes, in 2002 it still had the factory tires on it). In fact, the quad is still on the original fronts and Joe has the original rears that still hold air. I sold it to Joe and he's still riding it on the original motor from 1987--untouched except for oil changes and you see Joe doesn't hold back on it. Granted, it probably needs a top end rebuild but not too shabby from a POS Suzuki with a 16 year old 2-stroke motor:D

Heres my old 1992 LT 250 . It had - LRD Pipe and Silencer , Laeger a-arms , Laeger swingarm , bead locks , Holeshots with grooved radial fronts, LRD Motor ( hauled ***** and took any banshee , 440 ex, and 250r out there), full chassis skid plate , renthals, Graydon nerfs , bumper , tether cord , Durablue axle, maer plastics , also had a set of PEP shocks and steering stab that aren't pictured . The thing ran like a charm . When i first bough it , I took it out on the frozen lake and raced a guy with a banshee that won for the last 3 years in MX , he had studs and i had none and i kept up with him almost to the end , then hit a 10 foot section of glare ice and the motor spun too fast and cracked the crank in 3 spots . That was with a Bondi engines motor . I through in the LRD after that . UNTOUCHABLE other than a 660 on top end . Hopefully the pic loads.

This is something that is news to me. Before I realised that the Honda 250R will stand up better to HEAVY motor mods like up past 310cc s but I never heard of any Suzuki no matter what model (I owned 2 different 230 Quadsports and my father had a 88 Suzuki 250 Quadrunner, a 1994 Suzuki King Quad, a 2000 Quadmaster 500 and now he has a 2002 Arctic Cat 500) THey all have been rocks in my experience after I changed from Suzuki to Honda after the Quadsports and had a 250X and then a 1997 CR 80 and now a 2001 CR 125 and I ahve had no luck with Hondas so I am somewhat reluctant to buy another but want an old 2 Stroke racer that is reliable (sorry Banshee and Tecate 4) This in the end got me into Quadracers and up until now I havent heard any complaints about em other than they are not reliable under motor mods of over 60cc s or so. Any one else have horror stories like this about Suzukis?

Oh BTW the Arcticle is from Tecate connection http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Dunes/6243/
Under Hi Torque Arcticles http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Dunes/6243/articles.htm
and the actual arcticle is from the June issue of DirtWheels from 1987 and is titled The Ultimate Course

Lets face it.
The TRX 250r is over rated.
The lt in my eyes is a better looking bike.
There were more made. So finding a beater bike to fix is easier.
But What about the tecate.

This bike I think out does both.
The sleek designs of this bike I think is the best made quad.
All the others did no cosmetic work to the bike to make it stand out.
The trx does not stand out at all cause its red.
The lt stands out cause its bright yellow but there is nothing like seeing brand new "old kawy green"
And this is just a little fact but kawy made the bike with a hide away head light so you can race it with that racey look and then when you go trail riding you can pop up the head light.
I just think kawy didnt give it a chance.

Oh ya, BTW stock for stock, T4 was the fastest 250. Had troubles with the glue that held in the magnets to the flywheel, they let loose, took out the stators. Also, bad steering geometry. (so I have read, mine not running yet! BOOOO!)

i have a 91 LT runs really fast and is also good for another reason it has greatly improved my welding and mechanical ability but other than that it's a great quad and probably the worst re-ocurring problem I have is the suspension linkage bolt backs out and pushes the chain off the sprocket but after a homemade bolt welded to a socket extension tool we were able to fix it

ok i have owned both a trx250r and lt250r i currently have a lt witch is a 86 i didnt have the cash to go out and buy a honda 250r so i had to settle for lt but no biggie i have noticed the man differance isnt on low end 1st and snd gear they have pretty close to same power but it is in 3rd and 4th and 5th the lt just dont got the power band the honda does and the honda has a better suspension but i think the suz is a little lower to the ground witch helps out alot now i have herd that when u port and power a suz it gives u a 45% horespower increase and well i did it and yea it realy makes it almost 2 times as fast i guess its cuz there is so much friction in these engines beofr eu polish and port them it s just crazy but i woul drather have a honda any day but given the card si am delt i will take this lt and make it compete with honda i am going to florida this summer to race on alot of mx tracks with this i will be in begginer class but i will also be racing mostly 4 strokes my cousin races in it he is using yfz450 and he says he wins all the time in his class i am kinda curious to see how mine does against all these 4 strokes ??? i guess i will find out but i would like to get another trx but there is nothing realy to bad to say about the lt its a very good quad in my opinion but i like the looks of the trx better but i am workin on th elooks of my lt we will see how she comes out
