FCR 40MM help

Is anyone running this carb on here????

Im going to be putting this on a z400, I ventured over from suzuki darkside for some honda help!

What are you using for a throttle cable? I have a 400ex throttle assembly and the local honda dealer hooked me up with a cable that with some work I was able to make fit. The problem is that its a bit too long. I need a cable that is the same length as a 400ex stock cable.

I purchased this carb from service honda and its set up to run on a crf450 with a 165 main, 40 pilot etc. what are you guys running as far as jetting????? do I need to change the slow air #100 jet? or the #55 leak jet?

there are also about 15 different needles available for the carb .... has anyone changed it??????

I am definitely picking up the T shaped air/fuel screw

I just recently installed an FCR 39mm carb on my 400ex. I ordered it from C & D Racing and it came with a motion pro throttle cable. The cable is almost a foot longer than the stock one. I just ran the excess up a little farther toward the front of the quad and then back and up to the handle bars and on to the throttle. It works fine, and WOW what a difference the carb made.

i have been searching through old posts and I have read that the trx400 foreman cable will work well with the fcr39 .... i dont know if this will be the case with the fcr40. I have a cable now and thumb throttle that works so I will worry about that later

I am more concerned about the jetting.

jetting right now is:

Pilot - 40
MJ - 165
air screw - i think 1.25 out
needle - stock crf 450
slow air jet - 100
leak jet - 55

has anyone tried the fcr40 on a 400ex???? Im really looking for somewhere to start with the jetting. the slow air and leak jet are the ones that really have me confused :confused:

I am having a hard time searching with the 4 word minimum ... the only thing I can search is keihin.

I posted a thread about putting a 40mm FCR on a 400ex a couple of months ago, but didn't get much of a response. If I remember correctly, someone said it wouldn't fit...who knows. If anyone has any info regarding fitment of a FCR 40mm carb from a CRF 450R bike onto a 400ex please let us know.

they are shorter. But they will fit with the correct adjustments. My dad just put on on his 465 saturday, and LOVES IT!!! Used the same jetting that came from the factory and sais he isnt going to change it! But u DONT need the push pull setup. You only need the pull cable.

it fits on the Z alright so I dont see why it wouldnt fit on the 400ex. I dont think its any bigger than the other fcr's

extreme - you are right about only needing the pull cable .... thats all I have

so your dad is running the stock crf jetting? where did he buy the carb??? from a builder or from Honda???? i thought I would have to change it all around to work

I know GT thunder sell them ..... I thought he changed the jetting around like sudco does. if he doesnt that is great news!

he got it straight from Honda. We didnt even check to see what jets were in it. TC said they would be pretty close, so we tried it, and it runs PERFECTLY.
