They hold extra oil for the shocks and it keeps the shocks cooler so they don't fade...

would i need them if i only ride woods/ fields and jump very little?

probable not. its mostly if you hit jumps over and over and then the shock tend to heat up and fade. if you dont hit jumps alot then u wont need them. but it is a nice thing to have.

Works are not bad shocks at all. They hold up well for most riding. I would not have a prob at all running works. Do get the rezzies if you can swing it. If your going for heavy racing, jumping, etc, go with a better brand. Elka makes a very good shock. PEP, Axis are top end. Rico ran works and beat the crap out of them. I think he said they held up well, and were still holding when he switched to elka.

Howie is 100% correct.:D

I ran works and they worked great..No complaints at all..the Elka's are a much smoother ride and are working awesome..both are good shocks..but the Elkas are a better handling shock,,,there's really nothing to compare between Works steelers and elkas...that's like comparing an arens frame to stock..both work well but one is just flat out better..
