This is probably a stupid question but I just got the motor back together, and now the clutch slips. I also know that when I put the clutch back together I installed the last 2 fiber discs in the other grooves. I just read in my Clymers that I should have only done one, can and will this effect my clutch.

I will answer my own question. I took the side case cover off and moved it so that just one plate was in the offset groove and it does make all the differnence in the world.

I will answer my own question.

Like I said in your other post you seem to be pretty good at that :)

Yes, the last one should be in the off set groove. If you haven't run it much the clutch side sover should come off without tearing the gasket.

I have been told that you can run the last plate in the ofset place or in line with the rest. Hinson told me that the reason for the offset is to try and stop the fingers from breaking off like they do some times. If you put it together all in a straight line you don't need to go back and move the last one. This sis what Hinsion told me when I asked them why the groove for the last plate.

where you get the stiffer spings, and would they help wear of the plates on a stock motor?

Just order up a kit like the Sparks. That should help you out...

What else do you have to order with the sparks kit? How does he fit in the extra plates? Are they thinner or do you have to get a new basket?

If you get the Sparks setup for $139 on their site that's all you need. You don't need a clutch basket or anything else unless your's is worn down. It just goes right in the stock setup. He fits extra plates because he uses a couple different plates from other quads. I know one are the 300ex's but forget the other...
