Kazaa....Good Or Bad ???

Ive been hearing from a couple of places that kazaa is bad for your computer....Is this true becasue im using imesh and kazaa dominates it...

Kazza is fine for your computer unless you are not blocking virus containin downloads..

Kazza uses your computer to store advertisements and other stuff. If you read your eula you will find that you have given them permission to use your computer to store and process information, advertisement etc when you are online. I read an article on MSN about it.

use kazaa lite. Its a hacked version of kazaa and removes all the spyware and addware so popups and adds don't install into your computer. Yes normal kazaa is bad for you pc. Butk kazaa lite isnot. lite also comes with addes tools like speedup!

Wrong forum.......but when i put kazaa on my computer it messed everything up. I had to wipe out the hard drive and re install everything... F kazaa

Same thing happened to me!!!!!! I had to spend a couple $100 to get the hard drive clear and fix everything up... the computer guy says he has never seen this in his 30 years of working on the computers, i had over 250 spy viruses on my computer... My computer was toatly history... nothing worked.... i was so pissed becuase that cost some tires and rims..........rrrrr o well in the end we bought a new computer... better then p4... costum built she hums compared to my old one...

So delete kazza right now!!!! i don't now if i will trust kazza light tho...

Yes Kazaa is bad. My computer always ran great until I downloaded it and it went to hades fast! I suggest you delete it now if anyone has it and either re-format(recommend) or if you can't or don't want to for some reason, download a program called Spybot and run it. It will find most (all of the programs in Kazaa) and allow you to delete them.

I've been using kazaa lite for over a year and there are no popups and no spy/adware after using adaware to scan my drive

But i had kazaa then i got a virus and my oc crashed, when i had it a bunch of pop ups would always come up, but now that i havent downloaded it yet im never bothered buy adds so i think i will just get songs of my parent spc that has kazaa because i hate those stupid pop up adds.

i used kazza and my computer always ran like crap and nothing worked. one day kazza wouldnt work anymore, so i deleted it and my comp is running perfect. i do think it screws up your computer and slows it down:o

kazaa also messed up my computer i was on the phone with the dell guy for 2 hours reinstaslling everything, and there were tons of pop up :mad: :mad:

I like Win MX ( www.winmx.com) , and currently have it on my comp. It doesn't slow it down any, and contains no spyware or popups..you should try it

its really slow compared to Kazaa:eek2: I've been downloadin the same song for....about 30+ mins now and its no where near done...before it only took me....10-15 mins to dl a song

depending on your connection speed it varies..o got cable and can download a song in less tha 30 secs.:p
What kind of connection speed do you have, and what is the transfer rate?

Funny this thread came up. I have used kazaa (regular, not kazaa lite) for a year, no problems at all. The popups do get annoying though. I also run norton antivirus, which i have set on auto live update. I downloaded a very good FREE spyware/adware catcher 3 days ago.
Ad Aware. It found 39 spyware cookies and reg links running. I deleted them all. Kazaa would not work then. Rescanned, no spyware. I had to re-download kazaa set up, which was easy. got kazaa going. I ran ad-aware again. Guess what! 39 spyware cookies! kazza really loads them in. I'm gonna check out kazaa-lite. Heres the link to the Ad-aware download. I was wondering if kazaa lite has as many downloads as the normal kazaa? I hate those pop ups. Sometimes ill get like 50 pop ups in less than a minute then they all start getting closed and dont pop up anymore. WTF? :confused:

i dunno where the heck u guys r gettin all these pop ups...but i still use regular kazaa and i get maybe....1 pop up a night?? i don't leave kazaa running all the time, only if i'm DLing something and then i shut it off right afterwards. but i use that Spybot stuff....maybe thats why:confused:

I have a 56k modem. On kazaa the transfer speed would be from 3kbs-12kbs. on WinMX it was from .09kbs-3kbs. and i tried finding more sources n stuff:confused:

when your running crap like that your computer is being used as a server you know? to serve ads, images in spam, etc..

don't believe me? install norton security and crank it up to high so it alerts you whenever your computer is trying to access the net.. it won't be able to keep up with the crap that kazza's trying to broadcast..

it's not reallly noticeable on a fast PC w/ a good connection, but if you run it on a marginal PC and dialup it'll bog the system down to a crawl, or worse the blue screen of death.

I occasionally run Kaza lite and it doesn't seem to be as bad (no popups, and it doesn't try to access the net all on it's own when it's not even 'running')..

If you've got sensitve information on your PC, or you don't like the idea of it getting hacked / corrupted / etc.. don't play around with the file sharing crap. If you don't mind reformatting once and a while and keeping backups, go for it :D

kazaa is bad...i just completely deleted off my computer last week and it mess it up really bad. i called this guy from the computer store and he said that kazaa was imbedded with tons of stuff that when you delete it it really f***s up your computer:ermm:

I was wondering if I deleted Kazaa if and got Kazaa lite if I would still have my files in the shared folder or do you have to get rid of the shared folder and get a new one for Kazaa lite.

it depends what program you have on your computer and what version. on mine i had a version of kazaa that doesnt work with other programs so it deletes them then slowly deletes thing in you hard drive. so i had to get my computer completely restored 3 times becasue we were not sure of the problem. yuoll know if thuis happens yours because it wont even load the internet explorer at one point. so be carefull what version you download.

I just got done downloading two Hed(pe) songs and they downloaded at like 13.0KB and usually the normal speed for me is around 2.11KB. I dont know why they downloaded so fast but they wont play at all. I dont know why? Everysong that I d/l plays fine but maybe it has something to do with them downloading so fast. I scanned the two songs for viruses but they were clean so I dont know what it could be?


Also go to www.download.com. This site has lists of the best downloads and you can install them and it tells you about how many files that it is sharing and stuff like that. It tells some other stuff about them like people vote on wether or not its good and you can see the percentages of wether people think its good or not.
