I'm looking at making my quad faster. What is a good sprocket configuration to go with? My friend has a new Z400 and when he put on a new front and rear sprocket there was a big difference in speed. He really pulls me now around 3rd and 4th gear. It really responded well. What could I do to my 400 that would have a similar effect? I should add that I've already went down to a 14 tooth in the front.

thanks :)

I'm getting ready to try a 13 tooth in front  But I'm running 22's in the back.

i have stock gearing on my 400ex 15/38 and i changed to 18inch rear tires and has killer torque but i have seemed to loose some top speed geing cause stock tires size is 20inch so if i was u try a 15/36 or 16/37 depends on what size rear tires u have the bigger the more top end but heavy 20inch seem to be a good all around size but stock gearing is 15front 38 rear smaller rear more top smaller front more torque

well id say thats your problem right there, if you want speed either go up on the front or down on the rear, not vice versa;)

If you want extra top end you either have to move your front sprocket up from stock, move your rear sprocket down from stock, or move your tire size up from stock. Stock is 15/38 with 20inch rear tires.
