Whats the difference between a full race port job for 300 bucks compared to a clean up port & polish for 150 bucks, is there a big difference, do you get anything out of a clean up job?

I had a clean up job done on mine. It made it pull noticeably harder/stronger in the mid & top. It was certianly worth the $ (IMO).

Colby did it for me, I think I paid $130ish, but don't remember exactly. I didn't do any other work to the motor when I had it ported, and there was a definate increase in power.

I had Trinity Racing do mine, I paid $300.00. On theyre website it gives a good idea of what was done. i opted for the pro port and valve job.
Excellent results.

Usually, a clean up port and polish just removes major restrictions and smooths the path a little. A full race port is taking your motor to the edge by really hogging it out and making it flow as much as possible. This is where you can really wake up, or really ruin a motor. They also vary tremendously from builder to builder.

You could do a mild port yourself without too much risk of hurting things but you really really really want to learn everything you can about it first just so you don't screw anything up. Also, look at the head and think about how air flows through it, where things will get disrupted flow, eddying, etc. Visualization can help a lot.
As for getting it done, there are a lot of builders. Sparks, LRD, FST, etc.

What about doing just a flow job, is that the same as polishing the head, like is there better airflow just being polished. Dou you notice a bigger power gain with just a port and polish or bigger gain with high comp piston 11:1 and stg 2 cam, waht would be the differences between those two jobs, meaning how much of a diff.

if you have your motor ripped apart to put a piston in you might as well do atleast a clean up port job either way i hear to get a great improvement from a port job but i think you will see a better improvement with a H.C. piston and you would seen and even better improvement if you do both

Another reminder is that having a full race port usually requires a larger bigger breathing carb to go with it to get the full effect..
