Does anyone know anthing about taking out your intake tubes and junk and just mount your K&N right up to your carb, they make a universal filter(K&N) that has a slight bend on it to fit, I heard it give better air flow=better top end any one got any idea.

my preferance. Not a bad idea but not the best idea.... I put a clamp on k and n's w/ prechargers on my Banshee and it helped the power a lot and I had to jet up a few(although I had stock filters before that) so I guess it'd be a good idea but then agian on the bad side you wont be able to go through too much water or mud and you'll have a harder time washing it. If you do though make sure you get prechargers!hope I helped-darren

Yeah I have prechargers, but I live in AZ the most dry state, and there isnt much water, and I mostly ride the dune or the cinders..

James Lucky makes a bracket for the 400ex that allows you to remove your airbox and run a K&N filter and it's oly like $20 check out www.jlatvproducts.com It works great I ran it before.

i wouldn't do it for my riding conditions it depends what kind of riding you do really if you spend alot of time around any water, mud or dust your filter is goin to have no protection whatsoever so the risk of sucking somthing into your motor is goin to be higher personally i don't think that setup is going to be much better than running it in your airbox with no lid atleast you still have some protection then
