I was just over at Bluetraxx, and read something about Yamaha releasing a 2004 model, wr450f quad. I am sure it means nothing more than the rumors of a CRF450 quad, but it would be a great idea to replace the OUTDATED warrior, and/or the Banshee that they are gonna have to quit making soon anyways. Not that I would ever go back to ridn Blue, but.........

Ya, that looks like a warrior with a 03 blaster hood. I wonder what kind of engine is in there. Notice the oil cooler right under the nose of the hood...

There is an article in DW's it says Yamaha is going to more than likely beat Honda to the punch w/ the new sport quad & YES it is going to be the CRF450 :eek2: I think it'll be awesome!!!! We've been wanting to put the 250f in our blaster but don't have that kind of $$$$

because its a pain in the @$$ to start that big kicker !! now if you go with the WR450 that motor is electric start thats most likely the reason behind that one !!!!

isnt the wr a 5 speed as well were as the yzf450 is only a 4 speed for closed circuit racing

Yep, You are right! Saw the quad at a photoshoot in GA in between the FL and GA GNCC races. As far as I know - it's a 450cc Warrior with Blaster plastic. It definately has eyes - Mickey did a great job putting it together!

How much HP does the 250F have? Im guessing 38HP. Thats like 6 more than a raptor, and its 410cc's less.
Maybe they should put a 250F engine in a better, 46" wide, new warrior based frame, 10" travel both wheels, 10" ground clearance, kick start, screw reverse, add a 6-speed, 350lbs dry, it would rip, and be about 800 more than a raptor..
And no, the WR450 is a 5-speed, the YZ is a 4-speed.
Yamaha could rule the sport industry if they wanted to. But why don't they?

if a 250f fourstroke is 38 hp how much do you think my cr250 2 stroke is, becuz i raced a 4 stroke 250f and walked all over it

The newer cr250 puts out around 45hp stock from what I've read. That motor would be nice in my r.
i dont kno man, i would have to say a 250f is aourn 30 becuz i seriously walked circles around him.

i highly doubt a 250f puts out 38 hp. U have to remember the last how many yamaha quads have been run by old street bike motors. SO far the banshee, raptor, and blaster are all same basic engines out of there OLD street bikes. Thats why there 660cc CRAPtor only puts out the HP is does. They are all old tech engines, no new technology there:o

The WR450 IS A 5 SPEED, and I also think this will be the next 4 stroke hi preformance quad we see....no more banshee. Hello to the T-Rexx or something. It's going to rip! It has the making of a quad engine! Less aggressive cam profiles, not as free flowing head, and a heavier flywheel. It's got "I"m going to be in a quad frame next year all over it!!!

Someone on Bluetraxx posted the same thing. I got some friends at my local Yamaha dealer, so I'm gonna try and get some info today if possible. I'll let you know what I find out.

I think alien exhaust systems has the 250f dyno'd at 36 HP, which is about the same as a stock R. They claim some outrageous gains w/their system, but I don't believe it... Anyways, I would love to see both the 250f & wr450F engines in sport chasis. A nice 300lb dry weight for the 250 & about 330lbs for the 450.... wouldn't we all just drool:D

If Yamaha does make this wr450f quad, and if it handles better that an eighteen-wheeler(craptor). the pressure will be on Honda.
330lb would be nice, but it will more than likely weigh in around 375 I bet.....just like all the rest.

it is going to be releeased but i dunno what it is going to be b/c at the danville nat this weekend when u go though the gate they give u those books while in this onat the gnc information duel between pellan and cuartas pellan says i have the inside scoop of a new yamaha sport quad that gnc riders will flock 2 plus yamaha says they will back riders next year once it comes out but he cant say anything else till june 4th so im guess that is the release date but i dunno

I would love to see a 250F quad and a 450F quad. The sport class hasn't had a new quad since the 300EX, which was still only an improvement on the 250X, so the 250F would rule and would absolutely kill all the others in that class. A 450F would also be awesome and since the C-dales are gone now, they would be the next great thing for racing. I think that if they did this they could probably get rid of the Warrior and Banshee, and the Blaster would come later due to the 2006 law stuff. I also think they should all stick with the Raptor name since it is a very fitting name for these quads. Next, Honda needs to come out with CRF450 and 250 quads and get rid of the 300EX and make the 250EX better.

thats a dumb idea, u mean get rid of the 250ex and mkae the 300 better? the 250ex, would need to be completely replaced from a-arms and shocks, to small ***** frame, the 250ex would not be able to help hond at all with a bigger motor:eek2: :huh
