ok, after getting it all together yesterday we got it at around 185lbs of compression, and we noticed a very obvious pinging, and a little stuttering/ missing.
We used fresh fuel as well..
i am wondering if i can run a 50/50 race 110 and 92, or if it will harm anything on it. if it will shorten piston life, or anything of the such i will not be doing that mix.
also do you think 100 octane pump at one of my local gas stations will be good enough to run in it, or will it suck more because of not having all of the special additives and such?

don't you think that 185 is alittle high? i'd def. run the 50/50 mix with some c-12(no thats not TNT:) )

well, made my mind up, i already went and got the competition 110 this afternoon, and i'll be mixing it straight.

its only $32 for a 5 gallong container.... ouch

and i burn about 10 gallons a day on a ride... double ouch hehe...

and no, 185 isnt too much lol.... since im already running on the 110, im waiting for esr to tell me how much the race fuel doems are... how much more compression would that give me? and tell me some of the pros and cons to more compression i might not be aware of?:macho

My friend runs 50/50, 110 & 93 mix in his CT 310. :D

maybe you should use Diesil with that compression.

Im running about 170 psi with my 10.5:1 piston and i run a 50/50 mix of 100 octane and 92. I can even get a way with just 92 if i have to.

Try mixing it 50/50 and see how it runs, might save you some money.

CT, LRD and another(don't remeber who it is) told me you should run 50/50 race/premium for over 180 psi., up to like 185-190. Over that you need to run at least 108. I am bumpin 180, whoohoo.

when i first rebuilt mine, i believe it was at 190, now its probably lower, lol

too much comp will stress the crank, bearings, and rod

Welded crank, treated rod, teardown replace bearings in low end every 1-2 years or so;)

airheaded-

I was not implying this towards you, just saying what could happen

I thought somebaody asked what would happen if too much comp

talked to darren at esr, and he says based on the #'s off the dome i wrote down it is a reg gas dome, but he was kinda surprised to hear i had 185, and that most of theirs averaged 165.. hehe so theres something in my bike bringing it up to that.. yay..

he says with that much and that head... if i run less than 100 or thje 110 i could blow it! damn lol...

only reason it didnt blow yet was because the owner b4 me that bought the cylinder didnt break it in right.. and the rings never seated for that kind of compression... wheww

damn.. burned some race gas last night.. smells goood

What about running a 50/50 mix of c-12 and 93 or 89 pump in a stock engine. It's piped and jetted (160). Would I notice a difference other than the smell?
