IMPORTS !! my litte turbo AWD 4 banger holds its own !! for a 4 cylinder its faster than 90% of the v8 made cars(im talking stock for stock not modded)!! dont get me wrong i have much love for american muscle im a huge fan of the camaro SS!! Mustangs i dont much care for mustangs are like aholes and opinions everyones got one and they stink :D i used to be a rice hater till i got my eclipse and i fell in love with the sheer rush taht a turbo can adn does provide !! and the AWD it accells so hard on launch it could give you whiplash !!

I take it that DSM is a turbo, but you're still full of ****. It takes a few mods to get them into the 13's (a stock Z28 runs low 13's). So either you're just lying out your *** or you've never actually ran one and you're just shooting your mouth off. How about you post some time slips for that car thats faster than all those thumping v8's.

Now don't get my wrong its not a flame even though it comes off that way. DSM's are awsome cars to get to run 11's easy and cheap. But stock they aren't much of anything

Not running my mouth i have ran both of these cars every part on my DSM is stock i have yet to take the car to the track(havent had it but a few months) the track just opened last weekend !! i have ran a 97 GT, a 94 z28 and a 98 dakota r/t (these are some of the vehicles in my hometown !! im not going to get into the import domestic war with all this crap cause if you want the truth that DSM is AMERICAN MADE!! all i know is these are the cars i have ran so far and beat !! i dont want to get into the import domestic war for one reason it never ends !! ive seen it a million times heard it all a million times !! go ahead and flame me if you would like all i know is that everything in my family other then that DSM is CHEVY !!(2 s-10 blazers 4x4 2 s-10 pickups both 2wd one ext. cab lowered on 18s and the other all stock then we have 2 chevy full size trucks) if i get flamed for all this then so be it cause this is the same ol stuff i have read a million times !!

BTW i like your car and your truck you should look into gettin the z06 wheels on it makes it look 10 times better !!

a 94 z28 is a tad different my bad I thought you were speaking of a new one. Ragged out lt1's are mid 14 cars which is what a stock turbo DSM should be. Now go get some time slips to back up your talk foo :blah

thanks bean !! but the truck is only dropped 2" so its not LOW just filling the ugly gaps left between the wheel wells and the 18s the car is by no means slow IMHO and third how is it rice? i dont understand? a car built in america would mean it is domestic right? rice would be goofy *** wings and fart cans !! that sound loud with no motor to back it !! and a graphics kit that makes the car look faster then it is ?! did you see any of that on my car? NO cause i dont like that goofy sh** !! THat slow ricer you are talking about was built in the great state of IL. so i dont see how something built in the us is rice ?! especially by the same company that makes a lot of your beloved muscle cars !!

You know your stuff pretty well those cars(DSMs) Diamond Star Motors were all built in the same plant there are 3 types of the same car. the plymouth laser the eagle talon and the mitsu eclipse!! this company was founded in 1989 and was a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. unfortunetly the company split apart in 94 but continued to build cars in that plant under the name DSM until 1995. Chrysler built all the bodies for the 3 cars and Mitsubishi provided the motors the tranny and the driveline along with all electrical componets ECU and stuff like that ! just wanted to give you a quick overview and tell you that i am impressed how well you know these !!

im out by the airport, and if you know anything about the "southern indiana" weekends, its all about "cruisin green"
i havent heard about to many GT smoking DSM's so i am wondering where you are racing people? because i notice more then a handfull of supercharged mustangs running around every weekend waiting to make you oriental guys look stupid
and they usually do, although 1 guy had a really fast Integra with a Gsr swap, very fast car.... probably the fastest 'street racer' around here, but those *charged* stangs are crazy fast.....
u should come down 2 evansville sometime.....

ps- by the way the AWD cars are FAST as hell, but they only are because they dont break loose, so that really makes it fast, but in the end, the muscle catches up, no replacement for displacement

i am all for the dsm, i have wanted one for a while but i hate cars now lol there just to damn small and i like the room of a truck

but anyway back to the post, a turbo dsm eather talon tsi or eclipse gsx are very vurable (sp??) they can easly turn out 300 horsepower with very few mods and that is with a stock turbo, they can easy turn 400 hp but on and older car such as a pre 95 talon or eclipse it is better to rebuild the engine from the block up just to have that reliabily there :) but they are still going to be beaten by the domestics because there is more potental in a 5 l mustang for example you can go out and spend 5k and be turning 12's all day no problem.

i don't know what the point of this post was but hey i was just explaining the potental of a dsm to you guys :)

if I had 38 g's on hand....
lighting costs what 38 grand or so...

rt costs like 23 grand or so.....

hmmm by my calculations I would have 15 grand to do mods...5 g's for super charger and then 10g's left = for the money buy an rt and it will rule a lighting.

theres like 20 lightings around here all carbon copys of eachother...STOCK

IVE ONLY PASSED 2 OTHER R/TS ! (and btw only 200 rt reg. cabs made in my color) MINE = RARE.

Last time I checked a lightning was about $29,000 but it will probably go up next year usually does. You're right put some mods on a R/T and it would be fast. (I mean it's already fast just not on par with a lightning yet) As for the viper truck I can't really say I haven't seen one yet. I know for 2004 or 2005 dodge has somewhat redone the viper engine. I think about 505hp about the same torque don't quote me though. It's over 8 liters now isn't it? about 500 cubic inches? The lightning is 5.4 liters about 330 cubic inches. For 2004 about 500 hp for the lightning. I think it would be a good drag. I know there wouldn't be any tires left on either if I got a hold of them for a day:devil The best fact I like out of all of them on the lightning is that in 1993 the first year it was produced it made more hp than the corvette

Sorry for the long post I'm just trying to give both sides of it without being a dick. I appoligize if I have offended somebody.

also I think the manufactuerers should move away from pushrods and more towards single and double overhead cams. Ford did it for the mustang the 4.6 now uses dohc and the lighting is moving from sohc to dohc.:D :D

a blaster and a banshee are like american and import, blaster has half the cyl's that a shee has, just like most imports have 4's, and americans have 8's, now here it is, you CAN make a blaster run with a banshee, but ultimitally, the more cly's you have the faster you will go in the end, all the fins, stickers, body drops, and coffoe cans welded on your car wont help you

Its funny how these guys keep bringing up that there imports make 500hp out of 1.3 liters which is impressive. Theres only one thing bad about that they have no torque! There are only 2 ways of getting horsepower. Cubic inches and rpm. Imports are all top end. They get all there power by running at 9000rpm and no torque behind that. Put that against the 500hp 8 liter viper with a flat torque curve thoughout the rpm range. No comparison!

And you make fun of ricers? This is the argument I hear from them all the time. Well your ls1 cost 30k and my civic only costs 15k that leaves me 15k for mods that I will never do.

I am so for domestics I really don't like imports at all but name one car under 20k that can out handle a civic or an Evo or the like. I guess you could say the new Neon SRT-4 but since I named that one how about another and were talking new not used cars here.

JHForman250R- corydon, thats cool... didnt know i had any "close" by members, anywayz..... to restate what i "meant" i want to say i know for a fact that those AWD dsm' cars are fast, but only because they have TRACTION, you can drop them from almost REDLINE and they will barely slip, my friend has a talon awd with some sort of turbo set up, its neat, and very fast, but its unreliable, and still isnt AT ALL the fastest car on the streets, and if you think a *DSM pushin 482 horse* is really the fastest car on the streets? i know people that have 460 big blocks putting out almost 600 hp, and they are for the most part stock *engine wise*.... completely stripped stangs, with nothing but Tach, rollcage, and a seat.... these guys are seriously insane, but yes i am pretty confident that my GT could give a dsm a "run for its money" but does it really matter? i dont care if i have the fastest car, i just hate people that act like they do, because next week, there is always someone faster...also the issue of FUNNY CARS... LOL
almost 300 mph in the 1/4? thats insane!!!!

That fast and the furious car in the fast and the furious was a non turbo eclipse that someone was dumb enough to sink a chit ton of money into to buy a turbo kit !! NOS is a big waste(at least for my little import) once i upgrade the turbo i will run NOS but only a 50 shot to take care of the lag from the turbos size !! but yeah i am from the corydon area !! and i do have to give you credit i never said my car was reliable hell its broke right now the throttle posistion sensor is out it runs but at low RPMS the car bucks cause it doesnt know the throttle is being opened(the ecu doesnt) !!

My family owns all CHEVY, and we got one muscle car.

1957 Chevy, its not all done up or anything. My dad put a 327 in it from a chevelle. But it looks sharp. Its the yellowish color.

American Muscle all the way!! My favorite car would have to be a 1970-72 Chevelle 454SS. I love them things, just wish I could pay the insurance if I had one, and also I wish that it could hall around my 300, but it doesn't. My favorite truck would have to be the Silverado's with the 454's in them, I wish they hadn't stopped making them.

i was in the works of buying a 67 chevelle SS (favorite car of all time) and the insurance on that thing was damn cheap. yes it was #'s car too. it was only $300.00 a year because it was classified as a family car. My 88 mustange Cobra GT on the other hand was $1000.00 a year just because it's a "sports" car:rolleyes: so from my experience old american iron is cheaper to register and license than these new fandagled cars with computers comin out of there tail pipes. go rollin thunder!

i have to disagree with you yellow rider. i see imports fallin apart after 150,000. my 90 chevy pickup has close to 300,000 and it has the orriginal motor and trans. nothin wrong with it. take a import 35 years from know whats it going to be. a metal cube because it has fallen apart. take a camoro or a mustang or viper and what will it be. in some rich guys garage because it has held its value as it appreicates in time. look at the old muscle cars from 35 40 years back. there still bombin around. some nicer than new. some still new.

Well the insurance might have been cheap for you, but I am also 16 and with my Dakota my insurance is $600 every 6 months I believe, so I can only imagine with a Chevelle what it would be.

my truck it cought inbetween rice and muscle... its a 4-banger w/ some neon and and exhuast.. i wanna get some black rims i think it would looks sweet.. i got liek 6 fox stickers all over my truck and a big 311 one in the back w/ a westcoast choppers too im savin up for a body kit..

i bought it to haul my quad and bike.. but it doesnt help that my quad and fit in and i gotta fold the tailgate down to fit it in.. so i figured im just gonna put some money into it and make a show mini out of it..

I bought it for 19,000 or somewhere around there. It only has 37k on it and it runs perfect. Its fully loaded with every option you can think of. Its a 2000. Not a single scratch or dent on her. Im not looking to rip someone off. I just wanna get ride of it. I would probobly take even lower then that if someone had cash.

well the old cars are pretty cool, my dad had a '68 chevell w 396
now has a '91 talon turbo awd (fast as stink) I like the imports &
the old muscle cars. If they can get 1000hp turbo 4 bangers and still get 20-30mpg! My fav cars are '72 nova '67chevell '67-'68-'69

We just sold 2 1966 Chevelles, 1 was a Malibu SS
(only 5000 made). They needed restoration though.

I have 1970 Nova that needs restoration if anybodys interested.

MUSCLE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't own a ricer if somebody gave it to me! I'd turn around sell it for a 70' Chevelle 454 LS6 4-on-the-floor!!!!!!! My dad's done countless muscle cars. Camaro's, Malibu's, Chevelles, Vette's...he'd kill me if I got an import!!!
