august you said that you would be up for a chat...ok heres a starter, i have a close to 50' double that i am trying to pulling of a superman on it but i always land with my legs on the back fenders so what jump lenght should it be to pull of tricks like a superman...also i know doubles are best for for tricks but will tables do( i have alot of dirt to work with)

03-29-2003, 02:34 PM
its not soo much the distance as it is how the take off is setup, i think alot of u guys who are tryin em on these steep ramps and jumps are floating away becuase your path in the air is a arc like this /\ i think you want a longer more level path through the air to do big tricks

OneFast440
03-29-2003, 08:38 PM
Supermans are one of the easiest tricks to do on a quad, once you learn them. I can pull them off on 30 foot doubles as long as it is steep. As for the difference with doubles and tabletops I still to this day would rather freestyle over tabletops then a double. But we have to use doubles because no one has dirt. Here are some steps that I did to learn supermans. First do no footers. Second bring your feet behind you but keep your legs bent (do not extend them) this helps you get the feel of the superman and it also allows less air time. Last through it all out, if you do not snap your legs (lock your knees) it most likely will not come back. Stay safe if you have any more questions or want some answered better just say so.

hey goebel, how was it riding at trevor vines's house? What did he think of quad fmx and did he bust out on the quads too?

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 05:26 AM
Trevor Vines house was awesome. It was the first time me, Dana, and Sheldon had hit Wes's metal ramp. The bad thing was Trevor Vines was not home. So he never got to watch us and we never got to watch him.

hey august what bike are you currently riding ?

OneFast440

I am riding a 440ex Lonestar. The same one that was used on the cover of Huevos 5 and it was also used at the last section of Huevos 5. Here is a picture. Also if anyone is intested it is for sale.

I do lots of freestyle and that is what I am known for but I want to race the last couple of nationals. To do this I would want to run the 4 stroke A and the Pro-am but to fell comfortable I would like to ride a crf450 insteed of the 400ex.

what is the best lenght of a jump to do big tricks(table top)?
if you plan on racing where will you be at?

thanks alot

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 12:40 PM
The best length of jump to practice tricks on is about 75 - 80 feet (4th gear on my 440) anything over a 100 feet is stupid to do tricks over. 400EXRider#91 what do you mean by where will I be at?

03-30-2003, 12:48 PM
what kinda seat cover do u have? how come none of u guys use the higher bars without cross bar , i think its easier to do bar tricks like that, i see metzger runs higher bars too

it sucks guys on bikes do tricks over 120 ft gaps on regular basis and are quad will barely do 100

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 12:56 PM
My seat cover is done by Quad Tech. I run the CR hi bends made from TAG and their is no crossbar on them. Also why does it matter how far you go??? :confused2 As long as the tricks keep progressing as fast as they are in the quad sport we will be right up with the bikes. Oh and by the way there was only one guy on a dirt bike that did a holyman and he used a bungie cord, lol. :devil I will admit though and give props to dirt bike riders but I jump dirt bike personally 120 feet with my friend Sheldon all the time and its a cake walk. Get Metz on a quad and have him jump just 80 feet and I bet he won't.

03-30-2003, 01:00 PM
i dont know bout that look what happened when riggs got on a quad..... in one of the crusty videos metzger is doin dounuts and stuff on a 400ex, they dont use bungie cords for rock solids;)

has anyone pulled one of them on a quad before?

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 01:01 PM
;) They are coming oh are they coming.

03-30-2003, 01:03 PM
oh yeah, where do u cut your handholes? or were is the best place to cut them

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 01:19 PM
depends on the quad you have. For me, make sure your seat will never delatch itself and then (I'm guessing this spot) but on the stock seat right below the F in Fourtrax on the left side if you are sitting on the bike cut a hole there.

Ryan
03-30-2003, 01:19 PM
August, Since you want a 450 now, how come you don't just convert your 440 over to the crf450? I also heard that you, Jon and a couple other freestyle guys are gonna get hooked up with some quads. I think it was a deal with your sponsers or some sh1t :confused2 .

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 01:21 PM
Those bikes are going to be made just for freestlying they will never touch a track. As for converting my 400 frame it takes way to much cut and reweld. I would like to start with a nice clean bike.

03-30-2003, 01:31 PM
man that is one nice quad man.. i wouldnt be able to sell it haha even for a crf

03-30-2003, 01:33 PM
why dont u wait for the new arens frame to come out and keep your ex motor and buy a crf? then u dont have to get rid of all your other chassis parts and u could prob sell your lsr for almost enough to buy a arens

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 01:57 PM
Lonestar is one of my sponsors, Their product is by far on top with there new a arms and frames.

how did you get involved in doing the sound for off road fury 2? I saw you name in the credits. -Tony

03-30-2003, 02:09 PM
what u talkin bout i raced him in the game:p i saw your name up in the corner ...but u were always 4th and 5th

OneFast440
03-30-2003, 02:09 PM
If you look closer you will see my name twice. I work at rainbow studios and try to make these games the best as possible by testing and telling them what to fix. As for the sound that was a lot of fun but it gets really dizzy. You ride in a 100ft circle pined as fast as you can go and there are huge whoops and bumps. That was fun I hope you all injoy that game as much as I did.

sorry to barge in guys. but i had a few ideas for you guys wanting to try the SSG. i feel the best way to learn superman seat grabs is by using what trevor vines used right away before the airbox holes were ever cut. some pics of what im talking about...

you can see the little loop clearly on this one. im about done rigging up the same contraption on my 416ex.

lol, I wish we had some of the jumps you guys hit around here. Most of the jumps I have to practice freestyle on are 70+ft and are all rutted up. Do you think a coffin is possible onefast440? But instead of hooking your legs under the bars just opening them up.

Any tips for no foot can can?

Heres a pic, I was gonna post a new one but most of em' didn't turn out to great.

sheldon does a lazy boy in huevos 5 so i dont see why a coffin isnt possible. its more less the same thing but with your hands on the handlebars yet with your feet out front under the bars.

OneFast440
03-31-2003, 02:27 AM
yes coffins are possible I have played with them and Sheldon has too. As for how did I meet Wes. I sent him pictures of what I have done for tricks and sent him my resume. Well it took about a year after that till he called me up and asked me to come out and hit his new metal ramp he just built and do a show for him over pavment. You can see that in Huevos 5. After that I guess we went to colorado and then back to where I live. No foot can-can's are easy to step up to. Start with just bringing your right foot over the seat and do regular can-cans keeping you left foot on the pegs still. If you feel comfortable with that then do the regualar can-can but slowly start taking your left foot off the peg. Always progress in your tricks don't try and throw it your first time. I know for a fact that I did not just through a Holyman for the first time I had to work on it step by step.

400grl I think you got it backwards I think MG kicked my butt, lol. Nice to see you on here too. WOT400ex you don't want to put a cr250 motors in a quad because they don't have counterbalances so it would vibrate your quad to pieces.

mulisha is a group of riders that wanted to make more money then just what they could win at a contest. So they are actually smart. Make shirts and get a name out that people want to buy. I don't know I think it is dumb to be different then everyone. When at a contest everyone is friends and you all go out and have a good time.

Hey....August. You should seriously send in some pics to MXMachine of you and Sheldon and Jon and whoever and tell them that you are looking to gain more mainstream exposure to quad freestyle....see if they are open minded enough to actually help you guys out, or if they are going to be *****es about the fact that you guys jump quads. I mean, the title of the mag isn't BikesOnly.....so....who knows. Freestyle is freestyle......it might be worth a shot - they will either be OK with it, risk taking some crap from the bike world, and maybe get you guys in there, or they will be idiots and laugh at you.........at least you will have given it a shot! :)

I think they could use some more material - they are new, and they need to fill those pages..........

400grl...great idea about sending some quad pics to MXMachine. Thats a sick freestyle mag, although those guys dont give me the impression that they are the most open-minded people...lol. But its worth a shot!! Anything to get more exposure for ATV FMX!!

400grl
04-01-2003, 11:04 AM
Well - hopefully SOMEone there will remember what it was like back when freestyle wasn't noticed by the big money companies.....how much work it took to get noticed by mainstream fans, etc......hopefully, now that they are finally there, they won't turn their back on other forms of freestyle - I'd like to see the bike guys hit the same ramps the quad guys do - on a quad! They might say no just because they know it's a "trickier" form of freestyle (at least I think so...) - you know - they might feel like it's competition for them or something. Oh well - I guess we will see! :)

04-01-2003, 11:45 AM
well there isnt enough goin on with quad fmx yet to have a mag soon i hope, its not like mxmachine says openly that thier only bikes maybe theyd run somin on quads if we get good enough i read thier mag all the time, they put money towards bikes cuz there gettin money outta it once quads are as popular and stuff it will work the same , just gotta be patient (sp)

Just gotta show more people that the quad guys have stepped up and are going big now....A lot of people don't know believe it or not.

August, Jon, and you other FMX guys, I have a place for you to visit and post some pics of yourselves or whatever. It's a forum on the biggest freestyle motorcycle sites on the web... www.stuntlife.com . They are mainly sportbike guys that do ground freestyle, but if you click this link directly you can go to their FMX section http://208.179.249.170/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=10&forumid=142 .

They took a poll on the site a few months back asking people what they thought was better....Streetbike Freestyle or Dirtbike FMX and almost everybody said they liked FMX better, and this is coming from Streetbike fans and riders.

They don't mention quads on that site very often, never really when it comes to FMX....I just don't think they know it has come as far as it has....I urge you guys to check it out and post some pics or whatever.

While your there you can swing by our forum on that site also http://208.179.249.170/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=10&forumid=140 .

Just gotta promote yourselves as much as you can :D .

Thanks for reading.

What kind of suspension are you running? I have been playing around with some tricks and even busted a superman last summer. I am still running stock suspension and a arms and swing arm. I can definitely say that you don't need a huge double to pull it off but it helps and looks a lot better.
