Don't worry about me making anybody look bad. I have the worst luck know to man when it comes to racing.. I've had every bad luck kinda of thing happen to me. I only finished 12th for the year.

I know who you are talking about( dirtland) he was always in the mix last year.

Tips for racing southwick. Do alot of laps anfd try to find the roughest cours you can find. I will try to do laps with dirt bikers throught the whoops and every thing else. It get you and shape for it. The track really beats you up . A good set of shocks will be there weight in gold.

ridered86
03-30-2003, 03:03 PM

Cool, I look forward to seeing all you guys there. Jason, you going to be there Saturday night? I thought I'd get to ride the practice track once this weekend before our first race, but damn, I'm supposed to get over a foot of snow by tomorrow night

EX 80
04-04-2003, 05:26 AM
Redrizza---Snow!!!?? We don't even have snow banks around here any more. It all melted alittle while ago. I was getting worried for a while. I've only riden once since the last race. Still need to get a few things taken care of with my quad before the first race. It ran mint last time i took it out, but it was border line lean and right where it should be so i got to go up a couple jets. I don't know if i'll be there sat night but i'll be around. Maybe to sign up. My g/f lives 20 minutes from southwick, that rules. You gong to be all set and ready to rip the 13th?

redrizza
04-04-2003, 06:25 AM
Yeah, 99.8% of the snow has melted here, only a trace where the banks were, but starting soon until tomorrow night we're supposed to get around a foot. :eek2: I can't even believe this ****.

I've only ridden once since Sept. 29th too. It's got me feelin a little nervous, but other than that I think I'm ready. I think I have my jetting right, the chassis is all tight and ready to go..... I need a new rear shock baaad... The bottom out bumper is completely destroyed and almost gone. It needs a rebuild very, very soon... COMMON TAX RETURN HURRY UP :devil I'm not sure where I will be parking since the pits will be different, but if you come by Saturday night stop in to the pits and say hi.

P.S. Oh yeah, bring your GF's freinds :D LOL

See you there, can't wait:blah

I will be there IF I get my gaskets in on time, put the top end together and break the motor in this weekend.

I will be in the 30+ class #19 on a blue and black 250r. If I do not get my R running in time, I will be on the old stock Blue Banshee.

I've only ridden on dirt once since the 29th also. I been doing alot Ice racing witch don't help much. I just happy the old 400 is faster than a piped raptor. On a straight away. I can't wait to race with real parts. I'm still getting use to a widen quad. The 400 feel strong now. I just can't wait to get a rear shock and a carb.

Don't worry about, I'm so out of shape it ain't funny. I went riding at a new sand pit right down the tracks from work. The place is all whoop out every where. The Whoops are like 3' to 5' feet deep. The axis counldn't handle them. You could get suck on some of them it you where going slow enough. All four tires would be in the air. The turn though are just like the ones at southwick but theres like 15 of them . Its probly one of the best track for to get ready for southwick. Its was go to finally get some type of track time.

ridered86
04-07-2003, 03:26 PM
ya the pit i ride in is the same way, great practice for me. and sicko no complaining...lets not forget the little guy here with the works shocks.

it will be very soon though, ill have a 250r that ive dreamed about. the one i rode had full TCS suspension with the Herman racing long travel front end...it made me sick to even look at my EX the rest of the day.:ermm:

BigBore81
04-07-2003, 03:47 PM
i would have to agree if ur talking about open c number 78 is the man in charge no doubt about it

Sick0
04-07-2003, 03:48 PM
It was pretty funny though. I was think to myself I have axis shocks, I will just power throught these whoops like a mad man. It didn't really work thats way. Thw whoops are so big I ended up catching like 5" of air first real big one clear the second and land on the face of the third one. It was fun though. The only thing thats worrys me is I think I blew my new bearings in the carrier. If I did I will be pissed beacuse I only used it for like 3 or 4 rides..

Sick0

Well I geuss I'm going to have to practic more than.

ridered86
04-07-2003, 03:52 PM
ive been talkin to alot of ppl and it seems like they all say that the holeshot at southwick is almost the whole race, is this true? also should i start in second, i have b4 but im not sure about the concrete by the gates, i also have a 14 tooth sprocket should i switch to the 15? thanks

BigBore81
04-07-2003, 03:59 PM
i wouldn't say hole shot wins the race at southwick but if u have some good guys up front it will make it hard to win if u don't get a good holeshot i have crashed in qualifying in the holeshot and have worked my way all the way up to 2nd without a problem with another 1/4 lap i would have won and i was 1/2 a lap down after the crash but............... i guess thats what u call sandbagging

Sick0
04-07-2003, 04:12 PM
Well if you are running 18" tires I would go up to the 15t sproket. I might even go up to a 16t sproket with 18" or get a smaller rear sproket. I thinking its going to be muddy so I think going to a bigger ratio will help wheel spin.

Yeah I would say having the hole shot is a good thing at southwick. I've only had on good start there and the front pack pulled right away from the rest. Then I crashed was down for like a minute and lost like 5 spots. I can tell you making way up the throught the pack at southwick suck. I got like 17th or 18th my seconf to last race because I had gootn a bad start becaus eof 2 and 3rd gear and every time I start to make groung somebody infront of me had crashed, stalled, going than slower than piss. Plus these guys will take the good lines but will go real slow, making you go this crazy line that could get to crash, stuck, but atleast take alot of energy from you to make it work. From some reason I could never get in front of the start so I tred to follow 81,82, 25. These guys were fast and took good lines through.

Watch at the table top. I was behind this gay kid who took the outside line so I took the inside and charge at the jump he cut me off and suck up the lip and didn't jump it. If you ain't going t o jump get out of the way Whats I say. Thats my favorite part of racing.

Is anybody going to be running 4-stroke B? I will be running that class, along with my friend, FASTER4HUNDY. Watch out for #'s 82 and 27.

The key to winning at Southwick is to be able to hold on through the whoops and don't let off!! Holeshots are helpfull, be not neccesary.

See everyone on Sunday.

I've crashed almost every race I been in. Or at least every time I go, I will crash thats day.

You don't want to fellow me. I think I'm the only person to crash
on the first turn at southwick.

After got a bad start. (Everbody was already down the straight buy the time I got the 400ex started again). I speed up to the first turn Hit a whoop and flip over my bars.

If you are running the 18" Never go any smaller than 15t sproket.
Its like running a 14t sproket with 20" or stock sizes tires. I would jump up to a 16t sprocket if you are running 18" tires. Its going to pretty muddy and a lot of wheels spin. if you go up one, You will get better ttaction and less wheel spin.

With the 20" the 15t should work good.

I'm also bring both my 20" and 18" tires. Just remeber southwick always gets rutted bad. I will probly stick with the 18's.

yes you still have to pay admission of $10. You will be told everything you need to know at the riders meeting. They announce stuff all the time but usually hard to hear. and they have everything posted at the tower. I don't know if they are moving it this year though. Line up..... http://www.neatvmx.com/docs/Lineup1.pdf

how did you guys do?

I crashed in the qualifying (not my fault) I jumped and a guy drove kinda under me, ended up endoing over the bars...for all of you 4 stroke amatures you would have seen my crash right next to you guys when you were waitin to qualify

my friend josh tho won the 4 stroke c class on his dale, pretty nasty, pulled the holeshot twice and stayed out front the whole time

I saw your little tumble. Looked pretty harry. I was yelling at you to hook up your kill switch so you could start it . I did that once my first year racing also.
