would it be more worth the money/time to buy a crf motor and make a crf450ex, or would it be better/easier/cheaper to make a 465 or 505 ex?
friend wants to know again....help a man out, thanks

It would be a lot easier to build the crf450, buy the motor, buy the frame, and put all the other stuff together. Building the EX would actaully involve motor work. You can probaly bore the crf450 out more too.. Just my .02

As far as easiness goes... I would disagree.

It would be MUCH easier to just take the 400ex motor out, send it to a motor builder, and then just bolt it back in.

A crf450 would require a lot of work to get it square in the frame and hook all the oil lines, radiator, ect up. I think the crf has more potential than the stock 400ex motor, but as far as easiness goes, the 400ex motor would be easier to just modify.

If you have the time, know-how, and lots of money, I'd say go for the crf. But if you don't have the time, know-how, or a lot of money, send the motor off to a reputable builder.
