It's about time for another trip to Wolf Pen Gap near Mena, Arkansas. Here are some potential dates. Let me know what works for you and we'll try and get a consensus and get it planned. Also, Do y'all want to camp at the main campground or go to one of those other remote spots?

[edit] July 11-13 is the date for the trip.

Hey guys,

Do you think July 11-13 would be too hot? The heat doesn't bother me, but I know it does some people. Either that July date or - May 30,31 and June 1 - will work best for me. Let me know what you think.

Razorback; thanks for pointing this out for me. The July weekend will probably work better for me, that is if I don't have National Gaurd that weekend or haven't been deployed by then. Hopefully we can talk about another Stars Stanley Cup.

I am going to Little Sahara May 15-18 (something like that, Wed. thru Sun.) any of you all going to be there?

OK everybody. Let's go ahead and plan on July 11-13, with July 12th (Saturday) being the main ride day. Let me know everyone's thoughts about staying at the campground versus doing primitive camping out in the woods.

Hmm. I'm banned from the campground :ermm:

It seems that jerk and I have a difference of opinion over what a garden stake is, or isn't, and if I burned a few or not. That guy's strange... Very strange.

July 11th - 13th is good for me. I should have something to ride before then.. If not, I'll embarass you boys on a utility ;)

I liked the campground. The cabin we rented was pretty nice, but that plastic on the bed gets old! Especailly if you take your dog with ya lol. The only complaint that I have about the Wolf Pen camp is that I used almost 1/4 tank of gas on my carbed 250R getting to and from the trails.

You guys set this up, and I'll follow Scott :D

it's the southwest corner,,,http://mappoint.msn.com/(zrav1r45bn5mi5jwtdcmbj45)/directions.aspx?&StartName=Baton+Rouge%2c+Louisiana%2c+United+State s&StartLocation=30.46163%2c-91.14773&EndName=Mena%2c+Arkansas%2c+United+States&EndLocation=34.59095%2c-94.24495&DataSetLangID=USA%2c409&RouteType=Quickest&RouteUnit=Miles,,,

that will be quite a drive for ya,,it's 5 hrs for me,,,the cost is reasonable, bout 30 bucks a night for cabins, bout 14 for campsite, the riding is free,,,lots of wood trails, and some long distance trips to land marks (1 trip we went on was 74 miles round trip, we had to go easy on the gas!! hehe),,,the wood trails are narrow, curvy, hilly, bumpy, etc,,,some LONG hill climbs too,,,we had a great time last year, it was VERY dusty and there was a burn ban on so we couldn't have a camp fire,,,all in all we had a great time,,,here's a pic of all of us,,,later

Razorback
05-06-2003, 09:05 AM
Should be about 6.5 hours from K.C. Basically, you would take 71 south all the way from K.C. to Mena. It should be mostly four lane highway until you get a little past Fort Smith, Ark., then it's two lane roads to Mena. Hope you can make it. It'll be fun.

This sounds like a cool trip, I would only be able to go in july though. I have everything going on may - june.

I'd go if there was some people from oklahoma going as well, that I could possibly meet up with. Would be along trip alone..

I'm back :) I've been in Sydney, Australia, for work. I was over there 3 weeks straight. It was a good trip, but a lot of very long hours, so I didn't get a chance to get on the board. It was fun, but I'm glad to be back home. The Sydney motorcycle show was going on one of the weekends I was there. Quite a few quads around, most of which I had already seen, but I did get to see a Gas Gas 450, and it is awesome. This one was all street legal, with signal lights, horn, locking gas cap, etc. I've got a grainy pic I'll post later.

Anyway, I'm back and I'm ready for the trip to WPG. Hopefully, I'll be in the states and able to go. My work is really interrupting my personal life right now

yea i know :D hey i want to tell you all that go do not speed around the camp ground or pop wheelies my freind poped one wheelie over there and the guy that runs the place asked him to leave and when going from the camp to the trails or back hurry up and get off the county roads because the county cops are out there. Hey razerback i went over there two weeks ago and we went and found that cave and there were these three guys there that were from dallas and they said they ride in the mud all the time and they wanted to come up to see some big hills , any way there by the cave is a big hill going up the mountain and they were on sportsman 500's 4x4 's with coolers and big box's on the front racks that had radios and speakers built in and one guy flips down that big hill , he didn't get hurt but his atv fliped about 25 times and landed in a tree about 10 feet off the ground. Me and some more freinds are going again tommorow and staying all weekend sorry i can't make the EX riders ride.P.S to eldoexrider01 my wife saw what you wrote and she said that won't work.:D

Hey, sounds good. I'm really more of a MX track guy. My quad doesn't like some of the tight woods ;) There is a new place in Weatherford called Rip Char and I've heard from some friends that it's really cool. We should hook up there sometime, too.

Yep, you guys that didn't go missed out on a great time. We covered some serious miles. Like eldo said, we had a couple of close calls. I slid about 20 feet right at the side of a bridge and got within 10 inches of going over the side. Damn it was scary. Weather was nice with the little morning shower. Can't wait until next time.
