I've got a 400EX and absolutely love it but I'm looking to get a 2 stroke machine as well. I want to get something that will be fairly reliable, rideable and very fast. My friend just bought a new Shee on Sat. and I really like it but I'm a big fan of Honda's. After all we all know that they are "Best on Earth"!! I thought maybe a 250R, but I would imagine that a Quadzilla is just a raw ***** beast. If anyone could give me some insight and or some opinions about this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Yeah, I've heard that too about the 500's, but would that be just totally stock. If they have been rebuilt with many aftermarket parts, would that improve the reliability? Thanks

if u dont want somthing that will break down dont get the 500. if you want the top speed get the banshe but if you want somthing that is an all allaround quad get the 250r. That is what i would get.

the last year of the Zilla is by far the best, with a updated crank bearing, and an extra head bolt, if i think it is a 89 or 90, if you want the 500, get its last year in production, and do a few mods, such as a few inline water coolers, waterpump cover, stuff that keeps it cool, and it will run good for a long time, if you take care of it

The old Zilla's are fast, and that's about it.

I would consider a Banshee if you are going to keep the EX. Then you can have more of a variety of riding available to you.

Decent 500's are very hard to find and if you do find one you need to be aware that they aren't the most reliable quad. They have inherent problems which are somewhat fixed in the last year or 2 of production. They are fast but not that much more that a banshee, they are big and wide too.

The Banshee is very reliable and very fast and responds well to mods. There are a lot of out there and prices are fair on them.

The 250R is a good all-round machine but prices are high and remember that the newest one you can get is like 14 years old already. Their frames were never the strongest so check that if you get one. They are reliable and the smallest size of you like a smaller machine.

Personally, I think the Banshee will get you the more for your money, there are deals on 500's but they are problematic and the 250R's are all just old and often beat and pricy too and hard to find.

I still think the Banshee is the best bet all things considered.

Wow! There sure are a lot of mixed feelings. I know one thing though, and that sounds pretty unanimous is that the "Zilla is out. I definitely don't want something that is going to sit in the building torn apart all of the time. I want something I can ride!! Thanks people. Now I guess it's between the Banshee and the R.

Hey man I would go with the R. I don't know much bout the zilla but I would go with the R

The shee's are nice, they are fast, but not as reliable. Keep in mind you have to find a R that was treated nicely b/c it will be an old one.

If you are going for all out speed, get a 'shee. You can get 100hp and still have it reasonably reliable. Zillas are too big (ie-heavy), R's are great if you want to ride trails, mx, jump, etc.

Um back the truck up but I do believe the zilla is still by far the fastest atv made today.
They did mods to all sport atvs to get seed and the zilla raped the shee.
I mean come on 350 vs 500??????
And the 350 weights just as much if not more then the zilla.

you want a fast bike
buy a blaster and put a liquid yz motor in tit.

Wow, yeah even though not very reliable, I would still take one over a banshee, but probably the r over both, but man those 500s will run, wholly crap there the fastest things ive ever seen!!!:devil

Don't quote me on this, but in a shootout done back in the late 80's, the Zilla was the fastest of the bunch at around 79MPH stock. Next in line was the Tecate-4 at around 77-ish. Now that's fast for a stock quad. If only the things weren't so big, I would consider owning one, but I don't imagine working a Peterbilt around a mx track would be too much fun.

I think this is the one your were referring to.

WOW 74 miles per hour.
Now can this really be true?
Because all I hear is the hondas are always faster.
And I cant believe that the zilla only goes 80.
And how big is a zilla compared to the lt250r?
Ive never seen a zilla in real life and everyone always tells me how big they are????

Any pics of how big they are?
Like compared to another bike??

The tecate has a slightly faster motor than the 250r stock. But once you start comparing availability of aftermarket parts, the one for the 250r is endless due to it's popularity. I don't know anybody who leaves their machine stock, so comparing stock bikes is pretty useless.
I'm not sure of the exact dimensions of the zilla but they are considerably larger. Thats why everyone uses them for street bike motor swaps (lots of room). I heard somewhere the zilla is 100lbs heavier than a lt250.

get a zilla with rebuilt motor, you wouldn't believe the raw power by just adding a reed cage, when you hammer it down and rip through the gears you have to hold on for dear life and just one word for the feeling of that kind of acceleration "awesome", it will destroy shees:devil

ever consider a 250 quadracer? they can be found cheap and they still provide the 2stroke punch you desire.

check the forsale forums at www.atvtime.com there is a quadzilla for sale in there
