hey i have a little bet going on that i can smoke my friends stock 250ex with my X. His 250ex is stock and my X has a uni filter sur trac tires complete motor rebuild and other little stuff. will i be able to smoke him in a straight drag on a dirt road? and what is its top speed(250ex)?
thank you

a 250x will KILL a 250ex...... thats the bottom line :D
my 250x isnt the most powerful quad in the world but it has beat a surprising number of quads... it will def smoke a 250ex! the 250x is like the same as a 300ex..... some say one is a little faster than the other but overall.. the 300ex and 250x are the same quad.....

a piped blaster will give u a run for your money... after that you would have to take weight, rider experience, etc into consideration... good luck!:devil

i havent done any actual drag racin.. but ive beat stock blasters before on the track... but the riders might not have been at my level.. this girl in my division has a friggin modded out blaster (her dad owns an atv shop and is the pres of the STQRA so her little blaster is fast) and that one has beat me on the track b/c that little thing can haul for a blaster.. its amazing.

As for a Blaster, its very close. It probably depends on riders.

The X will spank it, when i went though my carb and did some replacing, then re did the timing and what not in the motor i embarrased a 300. so a big ol 250ex has nothing

This is pretty funny this has been brought up. My firend recently purchased a 250x for $200 :eek2: . He thinks he can take me out with my mods below. I doubt that, I think a stock POS blaster could still beat a 250x. I have heard they have very good bottom end though.

A blaster would definatly beat a 250X in short drag race, being a
2 stroke, but in a long one it might be close.

According to 4-wheel ATV action the 250EX speed is 51-52 mph and the 300EX is 54-55 mph.

Pretty close....

Most certainly a 250x will beat a 250ex! I used to have a'91 250x and it was awesome.........until I got ballzey one hot afternoon and cased a rather large double. And that was the end of that fine machine....dang me for that! I wish I had my old 250x back.:( I kicked a lot of *** back in the day with that ole machine!

i'm rootin for the x, if you wanna def get him on the line go out and buy a 12 tooth front sprocket, you'll pick up a lot of bottom and loose just about no top end, i did this with my '91 250x and it made it a lot quicker, i was able to hold my dads 100% stock super clean warrior draggin down the street with the 60 pound rider weight difference, but my x has new rings, super clean motor in and out, very nicely kept care of, and 22" rear holeshots, after i put a cobra full system on that bike it took the warrior by another bike length before i got to jet the carb right, so i think if you guys are of equal riding skill you will deff beat him!

and how much are u bettin on this, good luck

josh

make some money, then buy whatever mods you can with the profit, i say re-gearing it is the cheapist way to get more performance out of it! but a full exhaust system and air filter with a perfectly tuned jet setup will def help the bike out! take a nice & easy 2 hour break in ride and make sure it's all sound before you go drag racin,

just my .02, good luck on it

best mod u can make for the money is the $7 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket it does wonders without hindering performance at all, actually makes 1st gear almost usefull

Ahh, I miss my old X.:( Good God that was (is) a fine machine. Dang me and my old teenage stupidity for ever taking advantage of that ride. Hmmm, I am actually kinda bummed out now.

Ok bottom line......your X will continue to kick many and various *****es always. I always did. I shall bask in my glory days, 'cause now I have a slower ride......and it is quite humbling!:o

Pick up a magazine, a 300EX is only like 4 mph faster than a 250EX.
