Polishing!!!!

Does anyony know exactly what tools I need to polish my own stuff, I know ap polishing wheel but how do I get in the grooves and other small area you cant get with the wheel, like the throttle cover for instance, and cases and whats the best compound-mothers polish or? please help I want to polish before my next trip..
