Is the flywheel puller for an XR400 the same as a 400ex? I bought a xr400 flywheel puller and its not threading in... Any help would be nice, thanks!

I looked up the flywheel on service honda, and the xr400 has adiffernt part # for its flywheel, but how different can it be? the first set of #'s are the same just the last few are different. I just spent $11 on a flywheel puller, and I am still having no luck.. lol I wish I knew where I could get my hands on a huge bolt. the puller is 22mm I believe(the threads that is) I tried a 21mm bolt, but it stripped out. did not do anything to the flywheel, just that bolt.. but still even if I stripped it a little the flywheel puller should at least try to thread in. you can push on this one as hard as you want and turn the puller, it just wont thread in. Its got me really agrevated, I need to get it off so I can finish the motor

According the Motion Pro, the flywheel puller is the same. Motion Pros part number is 08-0086. I got one at my local Polaris dealship. go figure the Honda dealership wouldn't have one.

Well, I had the motion pro puller, and it turns out it was the wrong one. The motion pro puller is 22mm, and its supposed to be 21mm. I just got home, I got my money back for that one and now I need to find one online to order

Ask C&D because I couldn't ever find one. It just went to the Polaris dealership to see if they could just pull it for me but they had one so....

Take a 3/8 ratchet ext. one that is 4" long, put it into the center of the flywheel, and put your puller on it.....it will pop right off.

You could get a Sparks advance key, it comes with a bolt that pulls the flywheel off. It is pretty pricey, $20 for just a bolt.
