I know this sounds newbie, but i have a honda rancher, and i need to know how to take out and clean my air filter...help if you can

i think the air filter is the reason that my fourwheeler just kinda "sputters" when im riding..i will be just cruising..and it will just cut out for maybe 1 second and then go on about its business again.. :/

tkae your airbox lid off and there should be a ring with a screw in it and you will need a screw driver to loosen it and just pull it off then take an air hose to it ..

If its a foam filter...no. Just use soapy water to clean it.

Only if you have a gauze type air filter in there. If it is a foam filter, use mineral spirits, followed by a quick washing with soap and water. Let it dry, then apply some foam filter oil, let it dry again, then install it.

uni filters run around $20 bucks....just be sure and spray some foam filter oil on it after its completely dry then about 5 minutes later massage the oil into the foam then let it sit for 45mins to an hour..then your ready to go
