raced a kfx700 this weekend.

Well i was down at st. joe this weekend, and there was a new kfx700 running around, we got him to drag race with us. My bike is stock other than me piddling with a few thing's but no aftermarket parts. I was running neck and neck with the predator's down there, we were running through top of 5th gear anyway, when we all shut down, i looked back and the 700 was about 2 bikes behind me, that was the same thing through about 4 run's!

a guy on a predator ripped up a hill at tower this weekend and when he shifted into second he roosted like a mofo. all he had was a slip on. he had to be putting out at least 5-8 more hp than me. it was mean. i wanted to race him

believe it, i've raced alot of 400's down there, that have work done, pipe jet kit, things of that sort, and i usually always beet them. at the sand drags last year, i was beating raptors banshees and other 400's also.

I have all the admiration for honda engineering...but when are people jus going to admit....stock 400's ARE NOT FAST!

I have a mildly tuned 400 and predators whoop my a#% up the hills at the dunes, I cant see a stock 400 keep up with them unless the riders are amateurs...hhmmmmm, sounds like someone had a little too much nitequil last nite.

ok, were not talking dunes here, and no hill's, straight line drag racing anywhere from 300 to 500 feet, now if we would go out on the dunes they'd kill me, same goes for the street, they would kill me, by 4th gear i'd prolly be 5 bikes behind them. i've been drag racing for along time, so maybe it's just because i am better then them, i've got my holeshot prettywell down and jump them right off the bat! that's where i'm winning at.

I don't think this is very believable.. I can believe maybe the 700 missed a shift or something...

Look I run my 400 with open airbox, CT pipe, rejett, K&N and I don't think my quad will even keep up with a predator in the sand... I know Raptors spank me in Glamis at the Hill.. Got killed by a piped Z400 at the hill last time I was there..... I find it very hard to believe this unless the other riders were very bad at shifting and you are very goood....

Also if it's a 700 than it must be pretty new so in other words he's braking it in, which means no wide open throttle till break in is over.....

yeah, i have to go there to work on the computers at the sheriff's departments northzone.

and to the quote that the 700 missed a gear, there automatic's. and he went through the breakin period, he's ran 3 tanks of gas through it, now as far as how he could ride, i don't know. put someone else on the bike, i might of got spanked, i don't say that i can beet anyone until i raced them and beat them. no matter what a win is a win!

I am sure that there are some people in Cedar Rapids saying the same thing about my Gas Gas. It was new and I was getting use to it, so I got spanked on practice day. I did roost a couple of buddies in one or two corners though....:D
I would say that these guys need some break in time on there quads. If they are new that is. I just can't see a stock 400 beating banshee's and raptors in a drap race. On a mx track then I could see it.

maybe i missed it but what were the exact environment? I just don't see this happening. I drag race a lot and i know that traction is important. The rider plays a huge role in this, but i can't see the 700 losing to you in a drag race. I mean no missed shifts or anything.

Very interesting story. I think when pictures like this are told that someone should always be there to back you up. Atleast have pictures of all the quads together and stuff.

Take these stories with a grain of salt. You talk to the V-Force owners and they'll tell you completely different stories. I just heard a story from a V-Force owner saying he was beating piped Raptors, Predators, 440's, Z400s, etc. After being a Raptor owner and now a 400EX owner the power stock are worlds apart. My cousin's 400EX was piped and filtered and I'd smoke him on my stock Raptor. I find it very difficult to believe that a stock 400EX is beating V-Forces and modded Raptors.

u think the 700 would kill the 400 just bc of the fact that he dont' have to shift... that would save him atleast 1/2 a second which at that distance could be 2 or 3 bikes if u knwo what i mean... he can jsut clamp it down outta the hole and we are still shifting 5 time...:huh

And 400ex's dont come close to raptors out there, so Im not too sure if PRedator will lose to a 400ex?!

KFX 700 come stock with holeshots .. which Aren't the best sand tires, especially when compared to radials.
The Pred has razrs , which i know for a FACT are terrible sand tires....

i watched them race, they are not a nascar or a dragcar, i seen a stock raptor and banshee run neck and neck with them, wow we, and then i seen a piped shee and raptor mop them up, so we just have another set of raptor and banshee with a different name and style

btw, an auto vs a manual, same top speed (if its the same bike), but the manual will win a drag if the rider knows whats what, faster take offs, and the clutch on an automatic engages slow, no matter what fancy springs and stickers you have on it

next time i go, i'll get ahold of you and MSL. well i live off of Lee Pyle rd. which is about a half mile past the 67/110 bridge. we were dragging in the back, the front is rough right now. back there theres' alot more sandy area, so i'm sure they were spinning there *** off, but i didn't come out of the hole much harder than they did.

Even if the guy on the 700 cant ride, he should still win, its an automatic, there is no skill involved, you just push ur thumb all the way in and go. I cant belive ur beating guys with work done at all. My 400 is way faster now than when it was stock. I races my friend when his was stock and he had no chance, i beat him by like30 yards and that was only a 400 ft drag. :confused:

i personally like racing in the front if St Joes better, it ussally is smoother, and the back area has drop offs, and alot more whoops, and it is more uneven, and most of the time, the tricked out drag bikes dont go back that far

I raced a KFX 700 a couple of weeks ago and pulled on him hard.His quad was brand new and my 400 has the typical mods(416 kit,hotcams stage 2,FCR 39,and a w/b pipe.There was a piped Z400 and a piped 650 prairie there and they both beat the v force.I know the 700 isn't broke in yet but I expected a whole lot more that day than what the Kawi showed us.Oh,by the way,I raced a Predator last week and it wasn't even a race,he ripped me a new *****:eek: .

Hi, one of my 400ex's is built to 426. JE piston, hotcams stage 2 14-37 sprockets 20" geckos, edelbrock carb, motion pro twist throttle, Big gun exhaust. With that said, I run neck and neck with my friends new predator, his is bone stock except he got the Polaris aftermarket pipe and got the rezzies on his Fox shocks. Not sure if Polaris makes the pipe or if someone makes it for them. I am a little ahead of Piped Raptors and he and I are a coin flip, whoever hooks up first wins, but always within a bike length. I may be a bit more skilled than he is too. By the way, my mechanic works at a dealership that also sells Kaw. He let me play around with their KFX700 demo...OMG!!!! Drag monster. No way a stock 400ex would even dream about beating it. the engine is extremely strong and no shifting!!!

Yea, I have a hard time believing the 400 kept up with the pred, driver matters yes-so the 1 on the ex could've beat him by experience, but on the v-force, all u do is nail the throttle. Maybe the guy was scared of it? :rolleyes:
