I stop by every once in a while just to look for post like this. Ive dug and dug trying to find a link to the old EXriders Readers Rides pictures. But that must have died with the EXriders name. Wish I could get logged onto my old original name . But I think Ive got 12 or 13 years of seniority with this one lol

Real question is how many of you guys still ride......I do but nothing like I used to. Got a pretty busy gig going on of building motors for a lot of XC guys now. Along with 3 kids and my day job

i still ride, just not with my 400ex as much any more. actually last year was the first year that i did not ride it on a trail since i got it in 2003... i have my maverick now so we take that all the time. my neck and back get worse yearly, it seems, so the less i can do to jack it up the more fun i can have without the added expense of a chiropractor visit. plus with the wife and dog, i have to take the sxs since there is room for all of us.

i have my xmr listed for sale and will be getting an X3 XDS if that sells or i decide to trade it in. that should be a nice machine and be a little more of a trail rig compared to my xmr. we shall see how it plays out.

Decided the other day to drag my 450r out of storage and get it running again, hasn't been started in about 6 years now. Figured I'd stop by here in the spirit of the moment.
...oh yeah, and I typed in exriders.com to get here.

Hey everybody! I figured I'd check on a few things in the classifieds and surprisingly, this site is stagnant. It's too bad, it was a great community and resource. What's the hot forum these days? My kids are getting older and I'm thinking about buying some more toys...

Still riding the dunes. This is my 20th year going.

1718111424I still login to exriders occasionally.

I found the kids a 99 TRX90 for Christmas this past year, and now the little 250 is getting lots more ride time trying to keep an eye on them. It’s been a blast watching them learn.

dont let it leave that easily, i miss the good old days. heck i was in college when this place was hopping, that was 2007-2012. i used to be on here all day, stayed logged in while i did homework then when i needed a break from that, i would respond to new posts. we had a lot of great 400ex information and threads going. it is unfortunate that image shack took a dump and wanted everyone to start paying for accounts. i had all of my photos shared through there so i lost everything from back on those posts.

i havent rode my 400ex in a year. i actually drained all the gas out of it and ran it dry last fall and stood it up on end in my garage to take up less space. this fall i will probably have to get it back together again and take it on the trails for day to see how much i hurt afterward. LOL

my garage is quite full, i have a small 50cc chinese machine in there, my 400ex, my wifes rancher, 3 sleds, my xds turbo r, and a dog sleigh i built last fall to pull the dog behind the snowmobile. its only a 2 car door with another 3/4 stall for the door and work benches... so it is pretty full.

Yep, I miss the forum days, too. I come look around every so often, but today was the first I logged in since I don't know when. I learned a lot about 450R's on this site, I could always find the answer. It makes me a little sad seeing it the way it is.

All my PC backgrounds are still from the Wednesday Wallpapers!

I still actually log on on a semi-regular basis, mostly looking up old information that I know I saw here. It's great that all that great, technical info is still here, still searchable. That's what I tried to get people to understand as everybody began migrating towards the facebook groups. Yeah, I know it's convenient there because everybody is on facebook all the time, but the HISTORY. That history is all lost, those great answers and great info, all gone as soon as it drops out of your news feed.

Can you imagine if Michelangelo had sculpted with ice instead of marble? If Shakepeare wrote with disappearing ink? If the Mona Lisa just "dropped out of your news feed". I'm exaggerating, of course, but that's how I feel about the Facebook groups. So much potential for great information, sculpted in ice, melting tomorrow, and lost forever...

definitely agree, while you can search on facebook, it is a pain because there is so much useless stuff. the information there is unreliable and often gets off topic faster than our old threads used to.

just checking in,

Happy New Year to all the old timers. Miss this place and the days when riding my quads was what I lived for. I sold the 450, have the 400ex rebuilt with about 10 hours on it since it got built about 8 or 9 years ago, and the 250r is in pieces in the corner. All brand new parts but no time. Work and a toddler really kills the time.

That's why I always tried to convince people to load photos to our servers, rather than link them. I realize linking is easier, but there's also so much potential to be lost as websites change, accounts get deactivated, and links disappear. It was especially important to technical threads (I obviously don't care about jokes or memes).

One of the greatest threads I've ever seen on another site, a guy built a hummer in his garage. BUILT IT, like, from scratch. It was incredible, the pictures were amazing, the craftsmanship was fantastic. It was referenced in a bunch of other forums, literally thousands and thousands of views. If you search, you can still find a few of the pictures and history mirrored on some sites, but the full thread and pictures has since disappeared because the images were linked, rather than saved to the forum servers themselves.

Wow! I felt like I walked into an abandoned castle when I logged in. This place was the best place for info when I was racing back in 2001-2004. I loved this place.

Where do people go now for quad setup info? My son wants to race my 450er and Facebook sucks for setup info.

There were some great people on here over the years....86atc250r, 4punksdad, pappy......

Would be nice to go back in time.

Definitely a bummer. Almost everyone has migrated to Facebook now. Lots of misinformation on there though.

I was actually just looking for my jetting chart a few nights ago and it seems to have been lost with all of my other photo bucket images over the years. That was a big loss for my reference stuff... Wanting to put a 416 back in it and run an 11:1 je piston but want to get close with my jetting. Probably about a 175-178 will do the trick though. Unfortunately it has never ran nice enough with the 440 and the 450 carb in it to really want to keep riding it.
Thinking about trying to get some seat time on the 400 again next year.

The sxs is just so much smoother that it has become much more enjoyable to drive than inevitably being sore for a few days after riding my 400 for 50 miles. I put on 100-150 miles easily in a day with the sxs. Plus 172 hp is a blast when you want to open it up. Still isn't the same as wheelies over water puddles and stuff though.

Steve

yea a lot of the reference stuff is just long gone or hard to find. I might get a side by side one day, but really dont have much interest.

These days its all about the 450r and going to glamis or hatfield mccoy. I MIGHT get me a utility of some kind, as much as I dont like polaris their scrambler 1000 is hard to beat

Hahaha ain't that the truth? I've done the same thing and just cringed reading everything. I quit riding about 10 years ago, but looking into buying a bike. Quads are pretty much dead at this point.

Joined in 05, looks like my last time on the site prior to today was in 09. This was the first forum I was ever a member of. I spent so much time on here during my teens. Pretty embarrassing to look at some of my old posts. Lol.

I got back in to off-road riding a couple years ago after a long hiatus and it was pretty depressing to see the state of sport quads. I’m strictly on bikes now, but I’d love to see the sport quads make a comeback someday, as unlikely as that may be.
