How to check timing on a 700 Grizz

I'm going to check the valve clearance on my 2011 Grizz 700 for the first time and I'm also wanting to check the timing, but I'm not sure how to do it. What tool (light gun?) do I need for this job and how is it done?

will most likely need to have a feeler gauge, thin metal pieces that you can feel the gap in the cam lobe/valve to confirm that it is correct.

you are looking for slight resistance when pulling the feeler around while adjusting.

when in doubt, check out the manual- it should have all the required tools and such to do the job.
