Long Travel Linkage--Why Not?

I have been trying to think of a reason this is not possible. I know you can change the rising rate by messing with different mounting locations/lengths of the links. On the other hand going with a no link rear and dropping the mount down to accomodate a longer shock would work too.

Maybe I am having a brain fart and not realizing some completely obvious reason this cannot be accomplished easily. Especially when a linkage setup would be so inexpensive.

Roger in a joint effort with Elka, Brad Herrmann is going to build me a NO-LINK rear end for the 400ex. Hopefully I will have it in a month or so. I will keep you posted.
