Any of you guys ever use those electric pressure washers? I've seen the snap on ones for about $100 they put out about 1600 psi. Are they worth it, and is that enough pressure for washing bikes and general cleaning around the house? I've looked into the gas powered and may still get one, but I'm not sure I need 2500-3000 psi and triple or quadruple the price for what I'd use it for.

I find pressure washing is as much about the volume of water. The electric pressure washers usually spray about 1/2 the volume...so it takes much longer to get any large project done. I have an adjustable pressure washer because it sprays 4 gpm at 3600 psi. I never have it turned way up. Washing quads, I'd go gas. Washing a bike with an electric unit wouldn't be bad.

I've had both. Spraying clay off a quad with electric power washer can take over an hour...not kidding at all.

I own and use both. If the fourwheeler is dirty, I run the electric, if it's covered in mud, I use the gas. I'm pretty impressed with my electric, and use it more than my gas, however on a tough job, there's no replacement for the gas. I think my electric is rated at 1800 psi at 4 gpm... I think that's on the optimistic side.

if all your washing is quads and you've done it this lomg with a garden hose than you will be very happy with a cheap electric one.

fastredrider44, can you send me the manufacturer and model for that electric model? I've been looking at putting this unit in for the riders at the park and it only does 3...the highest I've found for under $1,500 and a far cry from $100. There is a 4 gpm unit but runs $2,000.

Electric if all you want to do is wash off the car or atv or small stuff, gas if you want to clean the driveway, deck or house too. I have both and I rather get out the gas washer period b/c I dont have to run an electric cable.

Hey Jon, http://www.truevalue.com//catalog/product.jsp?productId=62078&parentCategoryId=2294&categoryId=2329&subCategoryId=1629&type=product&cid=gooshop&source=google_pla&9gtype=%7Bifsearch:search%7D%7Bifcontent:content%7 D&9gkw=%7Bkeyword%7D&9gad=%7Bcreative%7D.1&9gpla=%7Bplacement%7D&gclid=CNfZs9i--MQCFYEkgQod2qkAuw If that link works, it should take you right to it. If it doesn't work, its a Briggs and Stratton electric. They were creative in how they advertised it. It says 1800 max psi and 4.0 gpm max, but what that actually means is 1800 max psi @ 1.3 gpm and 100 max psi @ 4.0 gpm. Lol, big difference. But, all that being said, I gave less than 100 bucks for it, new in the box and have run it for well over 20 hours. When it dies, I will probably throw it away and get another one within the same day.

I want to put in several wash stations so I can control the water runoff. I especially hate when someone parks next to my camper and washes their bikes and quads right there.

I wonder if you could find some old car wash equipment or something.

I just bought a new Ryobi gas powered one with a Honda motor from Home Depot. Max psi is 3100 I believe. I replace an older gas powered that was only 1800 max psi. The 1800 would clean quads, tractor, cars and mower but I have a fairly large vinyl sided home and it would take a weekend to clean the house because of lack of power the stream was so thin to blast dirt off. This new one is much more powerful. Combined that with I went from a 1/2 garden hose to a 5/8" heavy duty hose. Was $360 I think. So far so good. Used 3 times. No issues

Like anything else, you get what you pay for. My only electric power washer cracked. I bought a used gas one that works great. In all fairness I think I paid like $79 at HD for the electric one. Either way spend the extra buck and get something nice, in this case probably gas powered.
