View Full Version : Automotive motor oil????

Is it true that you can use automotive oil ie:mobile 12w40, i seen it in a thread but there were mixed ideas, they say it runs cooler than atv oil, and it work just as good if not better, any answers will help please!!!!

Nope automotive oil doesn't work as good as motorcycle oil. mainly due to the clutch. The clutch needs to have a certain type of oil ie motorcycle oil. Or it can be damaged or slip. If you have a 400ex 300ex 426. ect. use 10w40 penzoil motorcycle oil. CHeap and high quality. You can always spend more on the klotz, motul, Ipone. But if you change your oil often it doesn't matter.

I use mobil 1 15w40 and have never had a problem.

well after reading another post concerning oil. Im going to say that im going to use motorcyle oil only. But if you want to use automotive oil. GO ahead im not argueing casue that other post is a mess.

Turn the bottle around, look for the little 'certification' circle that list's the oils ratings, etc..

If it says "energy conserving" around the outside of the circle, stay away..

If it doesn't, I wouldn't worry about running it my quad.
