2001 trx400ex carb issue?

Wife was riding quad,ran fine.shut it off then would not start unless choke was on,had to ride it back to truck with choke on otherwise it dies,any ideas?

Check and make sure the intake tube from the airbox to the carb is still attached. Sometimes it will get pulled off the carb from riding and cause that symptom. Other than that I recommend cleaning the carb if the tube is still on.

Thanks for the reply, tube was still connected,pulled carb off tried to clean jets etc with carb cleaner, same thing happened. just took it to an atv/mc mechanic and he is gonna take a look and probably rebuild the carb,its been a few years so I guess it's due.

The air filter could possibly be torn too. If the bike is ridden on a regular basis there isn't really any reason the carb should need to be rebuilt (cleaned) unless some dirt got into the fuel.

Well I did not look at the right part of the carb,little clip holding the needle had broken
