For anyone who's done the 450R rear end swap (axle, swingarm, carrier, etc), any chance you have an image of the misalignment of the sprockets before going to the 400 sprocket carrier?

I'm not interested in estimations, guesses, or reckons, or 400 axles and carriers spaced over, but want an image of the whole assembly before things were made to line up right, preferably with the chain.

Thanks!

Ive tried searching on here and google, couldn't really find any specific pics like you was wanting. just try it and take some pics for us and see if it works or not.

it works fine, I dont have anypics but the 450r swinger with 450r hardware is 1/16 to 1/8th wider the a 400ex at the carrier.

1/16th will not cause any issues the chain has a left to right slack of about 1/2 inch and can easily accomodate the sproket being 1/16th off over a distance of 20 or so iches.

I used a 450r swingarm on my 400ex drag quad and on my 400ex framed cr250 motor drag quad, stock size and in +7.

To use a 400ex carrier with 400ex brakes etc you need to lightly grind or sand only a few millimeters off the carrier.

For the cr250/400ex frame build I used a 400ex front sproket flipped around on the cr motor to line up the chain/sproket better.

If you wanna check the line up easily use a straight piece of 1/2x1/8 flat bar pressed firmly on the back sproket and line it up to the front.

Forgot about this thread.

Oh, the 450R is WIDER? Then that's probably not going to work for me.

Trying to get my XR650R hybrid going again, and the XR sprocket is about 1/4in inboard of the 400EX. Thought that if the 450R was narrower, that it would help alleviate this and I wouldn't need sprocket spacers, but guess that's not the case.

Thanks!

Cool, a hybrid resurrection!

I've always wondered what a 650R and 650L conversion was like and far as difficulty and what the end results were like compared to the 400 and the 450.

Well just so you know, same for the cr250 conversion i did my solution was I cut the left swinger collar/spacer to be in line with the swinger bearing and pushed the motor all the way to the left, then used a 400ex sproket flipped around and it took the the missalignment out.

if that helps any
