400ex gearing question

I have an 01 Honda 400ex with a stage 2 hotcam with stock rear tire size. I need a new chain and want to get new sprockets also. I took notice the guy I bought the quad from changed the front gear to a 14. My question is there any real advantage to going down a tooth on the front sprocket or should I get the stock size sprocket? Any input is appricated.

what kinda riding do you do? a 14t is awesome for the woods. you will lose a little bit of top speed, but gain some extra torque.

I do Some woods riding. I plan on doing some mx and haresrambles. Mainly all the racing I'm gonna do is going to be for fun.

id say you would probably like a 14 tooth better. but yu could also order a cheap 15tooth and try em both and see what you like best. with the 15t, the gears will feel longer before having to shift
