2007 honda 300ex (false rev limit )

ok quad has new motor starts great idles great. if you give it anywhere over 3/4 throttle it goes into rev limiter bog.... tried new coil and spark plug and bunch of different jets,,, it has to be something stupid. help me out please!!!

it has aftermarket cdi but did same thing with stock cdi..

We put stock exhaust snd jetting back in . So its def not the carb or jetting.

Yea check the reverse wires

I can't remember the exact details, but the part that holds the reverse lever down when not in reverse is bent, allowing the lever to float and engaging the rev limiter. Until I got it fixed, in ran a couple rubber bands around the starter motor and the reverse lever.
