Is it ok to run stock 400ex tire size up front and 18 inch tires in the rear for mx? And what size would be best?

Yes it is alright to. But it will look really funny. But the smaller front tires will help you with handling also.

Yeah, like FMF said. It'll look pretty funny. IMO, get a set of smaller tires all around, instead of just front or back.
