cutting out issue how to identify atc and trx motor/wiring NEED HELP!!!

I bought a used what i think 1986 trx250r and having issues with it cutting out and cutting out gets worse when its warms up. Ive tried new gas, adjusting carb, and new plug. I think stator might have a wire broke but not sure. Has anyone had this issue before? Also I would like to know how to identify the motor and wiring harness between an atc and trx. Thank you for any help!!

Change the Plug - Gap it to 0.020" - Clean the MAIN Jet....if that doesn't work it could be your CDI

Is it OEM or Aftermarket (does it say HB9 or HA2 on the connector ?)

It's amazing sometimes what closing up the plug gap will do. I haven't seen one yet that runs well with the factory recomended gap.
