Decided to take the plunge and have a go at building a 400ex style chassis. Hopefully it will have a XR650r motor in it. I think I can build most of the tabs etc but the a arm mountings and lower stem bearing housing may have me stumped on my first atempt.

Does anyone sell them pre fabricated. A&A Manufacturing have some handy bits and I remember a company that built 250r a arm bushes and swingarm bushes but can't remember the website.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Give Lonstar or Walsh a call.....They'll help you out....I got tabs for the A-Arms from Lonestar with no problems....read this:

I posted pics with the part#'s

The real problem you'll have with the XR650R is the OIL TANK.....everything else sort of fall into place with the 400ex geometry.

Why not try modding a 400ex frame to accept the XR650R - it has been done - Search RUSTYATV on You tube.

Good luck :)

Thanks for posting , Langbolt and the links. Was going to stretch the 400ex to make the 650r engine better.

No need to stretch the frame.....just tweak the front tubes that go from the Upper A-Arm mounts to the Lower frame rails....everything else is pretty straight forward.....keep us posted on your progress. Lots of PICS :)
