Hi. Not new to quads and racing but have been out of the sport for about 20 years or so. I've got a KTM 250 dirt bike and I'm going to be taking the motor out of it and swapping it into a 450 SX quad chassis. Any suggestions, ideas, pictures that someone may have done this swap. I've already got the 250 motor sitting in the chassis. Thanks for the help.

Regards
Dieter

Sounds like a great build. It's my understanding that the KTM chassis is pretty light. Don't know what the end plan is but ya might want to go ahead and build the motor to a 300cc...(AMA/ATVA class legal)
Take pictures along the way and post them...

That's the plan this winter. Wanna try and finish this season (2 or 3 races left) w this motor. Then have put the BB motor in it for next season.

Sweet! I put a CR85 in a CanAm DS450 last year for my son.
If you can, use the swingarm bolt through the back of the 250 motor... that stops all the torque flexing... line up your sprockets and put spacers on both sides of the engine so the rear is locked in. Tilt the front of the engine up to where you want it and make brackets that bolt to the existing frame and the front of the engine.

It runs. About 40 hours. Next bike should go faster. Now that all the thought process is done. Track testing on Saturday and Sunday. Stay tuned.
