Hey just wondering for those of you with experience with these mudcaps, what is the easiest way to remove them? Do u just push the mudcaps out from the inside of the wheel with a long object? Or pry them out with a screw driver?

Right now I'm running OMF beadlocks with bolt on mudcaps but I get tired of unbolting them between motos to check tire pressures etc.. And it's easy to loose the tiny bolts at the track.

I'm thinking of switching to the Douglas g2 rear beadlocks so let me know what you guys think about the mudcap design on them and how easy they are to remove.

I run the G2 beadlock rears and the rock'n'lock fronts. The mud caps for the DWT's are a pain in the arse to get in at first. Intially, I either use a big long flat head screw driver, start with the mud plug ligned up at the bottom and then just work my way around, using the screw driver to work the inner lip thing under the bead ring. Sometimes I'll use a rubber mallet, but at first they are two stiff and sometimes the mallet will pop the plug out instead of in. At first (the mud plugs are very stiff), this will be extremely hard and you'll probably curse a bunch lol. After awhile though the plugs inner lip thing loosens up and they pop right in just by pshing on them.

Then you just use a big flat head screw driver to pop htem off (they come off very easy with the screw diver). While riding, they wont come off. Ive smashed them off rocks, trees, other quads, a pop up canopy, had them wedged between two trees spinning my tires and they stay on no problem.

Thanks for the honest feedback that's all good to know. That sounds pretty convenient to just pop them out with a screw driver to remove them, much faster and simpler than the bolt on mud caps like mine haha

I've got OMF plugs I made that bolt on too, I just put a second valve on the inside and check pressure from the back.

This is the only pic I have.. a real pain in the ***.. and I rarely run them with the plugs anymore.. looking at a different design. How did you do it max?

I have some 9" DWTs that I haven't made or bought plugs for yet, this is good info

I used to run OMFs and I had a buddy that does upholstery work cut some foam inserts for them. They were cylinder shaped and fit snug inside and the diameter was larger than the beadlock ring so they wouldn't fly out. I had a couple sets and one I trimmed a little out for the valve stem so they wouldn't damage it. They worked great and the foam is light weight so you didn't notice it.

I run DWTs now and the mud caps can be a pain to get out.

Here's what they look like

That's a great idea on moving the valve stem to the inside. I like to check the lugnut and axle torque between motos too tho. I have the OMF scalloped beadlocks and bought aluminum mud plugs directly from OMF for $55 shipped. They are held on by 3 tabs/bolts. The wheels are strong as heck but a lil on the heavy side. And I'm not a big fan of the welded on inner ring that likes to hold mud.

I agree.. the OMFs i find are pretty heavy too.

I've been playing around with thin HDPE and a scroll saw and some stock steel making covers that have the 3 tabs but havent had time to finish them to a point to where I'm satisfied.

My friend is aroudn the dirt cars a lot and is going to get us some of the foam that they use to fill their beadlocks. I'll post some pics when we get around to it, I like the foam idea too

A friend of mine and used to be a member on the site used pipe plugs for his mud caps. They worked pretty well. Might sound a lil redneck, but they were free to him. Should be able to get them at a plumbing store or something like that I'd say.

They just snapped in and stayed. His beadlocks were red so it worked out the cuz the caps were red. That would be the only downfall. We all know how well spray bomb holds up on something that flexes very much.

Foam would work too. Some still use foam in dirt cars. Might suck getting them out if they were to get wet though haha.
