picked up a 400 in parts for $500 everythings there but the guy stopped after he hacked the pivot bolt up. It's stuck in the motor now, i've got an extra swingarm and bolt so just need to get this damm thing out before i can reassemble.

Anybody know what size drill bit will safely get me in there without wrecking the engine bushing/sleeve. I've already drilled it out with a 5/16's to get a nice straight hole. I'm thinking a half inch bit might work? this thing will not beat out of there it's stuck good so I think drilling is my only option, just wondering if anybody knew the right size bit that would get through most of it so i can rip the rest of outer part of the bushings out. This one got fubared bigtime, but it's what i'm left with so I'm gonna deal with it, lol.

It's flush on the left side, but as you can see on the right side some of the collar is sticking out, the bolt is seized to the color all the way through the motor.

damn! I never seen a 400ex one that bad, but I have had to cut a swingarm bolt on a banshee before. do you have access to a shop press or anything? might could try that before drilling it all the way out?

I don't have a shop press, but i do have a huge *** vice, lol not sure if i'd be able to finagle this thing into it. I'm gonna get home and cut the rest of what's sticking out off with a dremel too then i'm gonna start drilling. This motor is bone stock and is gonna most likely get a 426 piston and a cam, but first things first haha.

ohh ok, yea you never know until you try. I really wanted to suggest using a torch to heat up the case and bushing, but I don't know if that would just make the bushing come out with the swingarm bolt in it.

i thought about the torch but heat scares me far as i know it's very hard to replace the case bushing and seals......

Don't cut the end sticking out off!! Drill the bolt out to where it's about 1/16" thick then heat it and spray wd40 on it and since what's left of the bolt is so thin you should he able to beat it out

I drilled through with a half inch bit. Then used small chisel s to peel the rest out.

thanks mtsnieg! that's exactly what i'm going to attempt, man what a nightmare, i'd much rather have an entire bolt to work with as opposed to this just being snapped.

haha, i'm really not planning on that at all, lol. But i will take the swingarm off your hands and the pivot bolt, do you know what collar you have, the long or the short? I've got some items in a cart on rocky mountain that i'm gonna order. This bike is going to be a quick flip but i'm putting new chain and sprockets and stuff on it first. Thanks again for the fresh powder man! Let me know when I can paypal, just text pics when it's done and i'll send the money that day.

I'll measure the collar tomorrow and let you know for sure which one it is, and I'll shoot you a text with pics when it's done.
