Does water run cooler than anti freeze?

I was told that water will run cooler than antifreeze/water mixture it's summer and I'm in ohio do I don't have to worry about it freezing is there any truth to this?

I have been told that it does run cooler...however, water's boiling point in less than antifreeze AND water has no lubricating properties. Water Wetter is a great addition for just water. I now run the 50/50 mix from the auto parts store cause it's pretty cheap.

it does but it'll freeze obviously. i also run 50/50 from autozone.

will freeze at a warmer temp then antifreeze and will boil at a lower temp then anti freeze.
I use 50/50 with water wetter.

I have used Engine Ice... It is pretty expensive BUT we don't change it much so its a one time expense.
Evans coolant is good stuff too.
I'd stick with 50/50 OR use Engine Ice...

I saw Motul has some stuff but that's expensive as hell.

Google it man there's years and years worth of info on this subject. I've actually seen studies where Engine ice did not keep the engine as cool as consistantly as standard 50 50 antifreeze. Engine ice is a gimmick.

Plain jane green coolant mixed 70/30. Aint ever failed me in anything yet and I doubt it will.

That's the ticket right there man...I switch to 50/50 in the winter but other then that you cant go wrong with the green stuff.... Anyway most of the antifreeze comes from 1 of 2 spots where they produce it. Different name...but it all started at the same place.

No I don't notice a difference.. but for 20 bucks I mean why not. How often do you change your coolant anyway? 1-2 a year max.. if I can't afford that I shouldn't have a quad.. maybe a fixie :p

i would not suggest 70/30 mix if you ride in the winter. your coolant will definitely freeze if you try to start it at 10 degrees or below. 60/40 is as weak as i would go, but why not run 50/50 like the manual suggests?

antifreeze doesn't dissipate the heat as well as straight water but the antifreeze does have some lubricating capabilities, and corrosion inhibitors. I run about a 75/25 water/antifreeze mix and I also run amsoil coolant boost but I definetaly drain it and put straight antifreeze in it when I store it in the fall
