would the 400 fullbore plastic bolt to the 300?
if the 300 doesn't have the vent, thats what i'd want to do
be sharp- slide something in behind it with some blood shot eyes'- little peice of sheet metal with it painted on it or somethin'

personaly wouldn't put fullbore 400ex plastics on a 300. because you have to drill threw the plastics and such. and your paying allot of money to get top of the line plastics. and their be holes whee their should be a such. but im pputin stock 400 plastics on mine because their cheaper than 300.

465Stroker,

Yes she is. I can get pictures, but it will be a day or two. They are identical to the honda mold as far as I can tell.

Thats sweet!!! Ah dont worry about it then, In one picture on the fullbore site the rear fenders look like they sink at the top behind the sag.... its hard to deiscibe but it's nothing, thanx

OMG of course thats Race Cut. 1st of all you stole my pic that I posted before, then you don't even know what kinda cut they are,c'mon now,if your gonna steal my pics,at least know about it first. 2nd NO YOU CAN"T get it with headlights. and they only make 4 color choices. Red,Yammy Blue,Black, and White. You can get cut,or full fenders. They cost $200 for front and $200 for year. Thats the only pics of a 400ex with full bore plastic!

465, where did they gusset the frame, how many, and where could Iget it done, I have heard of this being done on 250r and 400ex stock framesto make them more rigid too. is it very exspensive?

465Stroker
12-24-2001, 08:58 AM
I gusset the frames myself. I can get pictures this weekend for you. Basically the bottom rails (below the engine) break near the round tube that the lower footpeg bolt fastens to. Also near the upper rear shock mount - starter selinoid area.
I TIG weld in a total of 6 pieces, and have no failures yet.
If you plan on racing a 300EX, this is a vital chore that should not be left out, especially if you have your quad torn down. 300EX frames are very expensive, and much harder to repair after they have broken.

Stroker465,

I think your wife is in the february issue of Dirtwheels. She won the championchip. She is good.

12-24-2001, 07:34 PM
465, I would appreciate seeing those pictures, I might do a few local harescrables this summer and maybe a little xc racing, but mostly just aggressiove trail riding/racing with my buddies for fun. I like modding my atv to not only be faster, but more durable, comfortable, good looking, and handle better. Merry Christams to everyone.

Here are the pictures. This is the botom rail gussett. I took a piece of 1" x 2" Chromoly stock and ripped it at an angle & TIG welded it. The actual piece starts at about 1" and tapers down to 6" in length. This is done to both sides of the frame.

Here there is a gusset to the left and right of the vertical fram rail. The gusset between the rail and starter selinoid is much small since there is not too much room available. These pictures would have been much better if they were taken before the powder coating. You can also get a view of the lower frame rail gusset from this photo.

Last and final one. This is a picture of the exhaust side of the quad. Frame is gusseted on both sides of the vertical frame rail. You can install larger gussets on this side of the frame. Once again, take a look at the lower frame rail gusset. You can get a much better look at it from this photo.

that will look awesome for the 300, Same plastic color the right?

465Stroker
12-26-2001, 12:53 PM
Yep, Basically the same quad as the red one - But all white. White Frame & Plastic. Chrome A-arms, swingarm, steering stem, axle, etc. It was a 5 hour 2001 300EX that I bought and tore down to build up. It will be brand new for the 2002 season opener in Florida.

Yes, the will look very pretty........ Hey 465Stroker, since you used that fullbore plastic for Xcountry, thats same as wood riding so my question is, how does that plastic hold up to scratches and fading around the gas tank where your legs rub??

I got my frame powder coated and gussetted, I'll have to get some closer pics of the gussetts. It was gussetted at the top shock mounts, and the lower frame rail by the footpegs.

12-27-2001, 08:19 PM
465, thank you so very much for the info on gusseting and the pics, I know it was alot of trouble, I wish there was someone Icould try and help you out.
