Can anyone tell me why my clutch lever is so hard to pull.. After about 30min into a race my hand is just dead

Too many variables to easily answer your question. Type of lever and perch could be poor design. Cable could be in bad shape, clutch basket could be in bad shape. Someone could have installed HD springs at some point or even the wrong oil could cause it those are all things to look into.

I would start small...make sure it's adjusted properly with play in the lever. Cables are cheap.

I've put a new cable on new lever and I know the guy that has I owned it since new and it has stock springs and I run Gn4 10w40

Make sure your cable is routed correctly. Look into the perch and make sure everything is moving freely and nothing dragging, cable digging in. If not that, your clutch is probably the culprit, whether it be a grooved basket or warped clutch steels or something of that nature.

If that's the case I think I'm going to get a rekluse clutch one of the z start pros but I'm really hesitant about getting one because I've heard mixed reviews on them for xc

Why would you want a rekluse, take off the cover and check the clutch out. Are the plates and fibers worn, scorched..whatever. When was the last time a clutch was done, is the basket grooved, are the springs worn out, is the cable moving freely? Is the lever binding up..

Checked everything and it's all as it should be no grooving binding and the clutches are fine... I want the rekluse for the reasons of you can just hop off the bike while it's in a rut with out the hassle of finding neutral you can give it throttle while pushing the bike without it stalling or running away faster starts you can't stall the bike and those are just some of the reasons

All of this can be avoided if you don't get stuck :bandit:

Sounds like your clutch is more so not adjusted properly. Do you have around a nickle's thickness at the lever before the cable actually engages the clutch?

Why wouldn't you want a rekluse? Those are some of the best clutches around and if you've ever used one you most likely would not go back. 90% of woods racers run rekluse.

Have you ever used one? My friend has one and he says it shifts hard at high rpm is this a common thing?

I use one, they're very expensive and they do require adjustment, but they're hands down AWESOME! You don't even need the clutch, but you can still use it. I do still use the clutch at high rpm's to smooth out the shifting. The main thing is that you can slow down to a stop in any gear and it will not die.

Yeah I think I'm going to get one people say you can't use the motor to slow the bike down but I don't really think that it will bother me

Couple things could be wrong, first one of your opponents could have dropped a Viagra into the bottom end of your motor when you weren't looking. or you need to work out more.

Glad I could help.

nobody has suggested oiliing your cable. they get stiff from sitting, oil it up by the cable adjustment on the lever, i've had this happen and it will immediately become a nice clutch, try that first. Also, did you get the rekluse? i thoroughly enjoy mine. One of the best mods i've done.....you have to run one to know what i'm talking about......can't be the guy who sits around saying they're no good without having any previous experience.

i knew you would, most people that have them absolutely won't go back.

Anybody who asks you "why would you want a recluse" is obviously a person who has never ran one. They're very popular and outstanding for a woods rider/racer.
