I use VP and I like it but I don't like the price per gal.! I haven't bought since Aug or Sept and at that time it was 6.50 gal. What did you pay?? Its not reason why I bought it but I tell ya, its smells :D :D !!

I went to the first overbore, cam and using an 11:1 but to save $$$ I'm gonna run 50/50 this year, C12/94oct. I was paying $6.50 gal in Sept and probably now its like $7.00 or 7.50?? I had minor motor done by CT and told me to run racing fuel and the only racing fuel I can get around here is C-12. I'm pretty sure you can run 50/50 also. I'll give it a rip and if I feel like its not running up to par then I'll go 100%, C-12

It would be more likely of a place that deals with hot-rods or racing types of cars....modifieds ect... or fuel facilities, not regular gas stations.

i get mine at a local gas station/ repair garage. is the vp red that has 105 octane going to be enough for my 250x?

I run vp c-12 straight, not a 50/50 mix at $5.50 a gallon with a 11:1 piston

I think that is plenty. Try cutting one gallon of it with one gallon of premium pump. If it don't ping then run it 50/50 to your cost.

Does the racing fuel go bad if you leave it in those drums that it comes in with the lid off? There isn't much around where I live that I know of so I'm woundering if i can just buy a bunch of it and keep it at my house without it going bad.

You can call VP and I'm sure they'll sell you a 55gal drum but I would recommend of getting somekind of pump and leave the lid on!!!

I didn't know you could order it. Where can I find their phone number or web site? I'm going to be running a 416 with a 10.8:1 compression and a hotcams stage 2 what do you guys recomend? Do I even need race fuel or a 50/50 mix?

I always been told if ya run 11:1 or more, then its recommended to run race fuel. Since your like on the borderline then I'm not sure. But, your probably better off experimenting with 93 or 94 from your local station first and then if it doesn't seem right then go to VP. But anyways, since you live in CA then there # is 909-674-9167 and thats in Wildomar CA and e-mail is vppacific@aol.com or visit there website www.vpracingfuels.com

You would probably be better off running 50/50, I run a 11:1 and this year I'm gonna try a 50/50 because of fuel cost ect.... I'm not totally positive that VP will sell you a 55gal drum!! You might have to B.S. them a little bit!!!

Giz400ex

Do you need C-14???? Or is that the only kind you can get???? C-12 is 108 oct, according to VP the C-14+ is 115 oct.

Tom told me to run at LEAST C-14, so when I went to the shop I called him and told him the C-14 and C-14+ was the same price at the shop, so he told me to go ahead and run the C-14+!! Its clear so a lot of people think im running alky!!! But now when I do switch to alky, nobody will know!!!

Giz400ex

Are you running over 14:1??

ChadEXer
03-24-2003, 09:49 AM
Actually Im only running 12.5:1, but Tom says since mine is such a large bore that the extra octane will help my motor run cooler. But Im fixing to put it on alky, and alky will lower the operating temp quite a bit,,,not to mention even more power!!!
