I am trying to get my quad running again so I will be ordering some different sized jets for it because of the new motor.
The main jet in it now has AB 208 stamped on it, what does AB stand for? What size would that be in Keihin jets?

Its just an aftermarket keihin main, works fine usually. 208 main is very large btw..

just curious where you're getting your jets from and if it's in canada?

Ok so AB 208 is equal to a 208 Keihin jet? I thought because it is such a high number it might be like dyno jets where those numbers are actually different than the Keihin numbering system.

Since it is actually a 208 jet, yes I realize it is huge! lol.
I have never jetted it, it ran perfect when i got it, but at the time it was 14.5:1 compression running on 116 octane. So....
Now that i lowered the compression to 12.5:1 and planning on running it on 93, I am thinking of getting a 170, 175, and 180, and a 55 Leak jet.

Chronicsmoke, Never ordered jets before and so far its a PITA trying to find site to get them.... Tokyomods.com sells them $10 a piece, but I am going to see what the honda dealer can get them for.
Where are you located? I'm assuming you see where I am, where do you get your jets??

From left to right, AB 208 Main, 50, Keihin 75. Of the 50 and 75, which is which? Do these sound like ridiculous sizes?

The long skinny one is a 50 pilot jet. The one you say is a 75... I don't wanna steer ya wrong on what the name of that jet is... I'll only post what I know...

I order mine from jetsrus when I need more than 1-2.. The stealership here charges ~7-8 for knockoffs and ~12 for Genuine Keihin jets.

What jet sizes are you running? I think I am going to order a 175 and 180 main, and a 55 leak jet. What about pilot?

195 Main
NVCQ neeedle (4th clip)
50 Pilot
0 Leak (soldered shut)

Seems to run good.. I dropped a few bucks and got 185-210 in mains and 55-45 pilots when I put my 42mm FCR on so I'd have the jets in hand

Ohhh so your not running the stock fcr carb?
I just picked up the jets i ordered from the honda dealer, got a 165, 170, 175 to start with and a 48 pilot.

No I got mine off of a CRF250 dirtbike and had it bored out. It goes really well with the +3 stroker/12:1 piston/early HRC cam/dynomite head w/+1x4 valves lol

Oh that makes sense. lol.

So I try to see if the jets i ordered are correct, but this is what I am getting. It starts cranking fast about 10 seconds in. It starts slow, and eventually backfires and the starter sounds like it locks up or something?
Could it simply be the valves no longer have the correct clearance?
Also, I have jumper cables hooked up to a fully charged car battery for my power. (Quad battery still inside from the winter)

Any Ideas? It has done this before to me a few years ago but I can't remember what fixed it :ermm:

Got it figured out. Must have just been from the jumper cables i was using.
I put the battery back in and used different cables and it cranked over just fine and it now idles as well.

The only thing i am having is that when i hit the gas, it is very slow to return to idle speed and it pops a little bit.
Could it pop from being too rich still, or is that only from being lean?
And why would it be slow to return to idle?

Thanks guys!

So i have figured out that I have the stock needle still. And my A/F screw is now 2.5 turns out.
It seems to return to idle speed quicker after stabbing the throttle. But it still pops when returning to idle. I have a 48 pilot in, and a 175 main. Dr.D full exhaust, Uni filter, Lid on, stage 2 or 3 cam, 12.5:1 compression, about 180m elevation.

It idles pretty good now i would say, I'm just not sure about getting it to stop popping, can i just turn the a/f screw out to try and fix that?
