Whats some of the best batteries for the 400EX on Ebay. Or are OEM Honda batteries the best?

I am probably going to need to buy a battery this year too but we got 3 different answers, damn... It sounds like I may have to do some research when the time comes.

If your interested in the lithium battery check out Antigravity batterries. Myself and a ton of guys that I race with have run them and they seem to hold up well. I have heard mixed reviews on the Ballistic brand batteries and have no experience with the other brands. You will be amazed that a battery that small will start your machine that fast.

I've noticed that some are much smaller in size, I think I would want to keep a snug fit in the battery housing, but shouldn't be too hard to shim. I am seeing very different cold cranking amps (CCA), the gel had 110 and the Yusa had 120, some guys are saying they are getting batteries with 160 to 200 CCA from walmart but all the ones I see like that are above 8AH. Need 12V 8AH for the 400EX. The Lithium batteries seem to be for cutting weight, the smaller size also concerned me, thanks for the info that they do crank good, have to check out what kind of CCA they have to offer.

I've got the Shorai Lithium FX or whatever it's called and it's the best battery I've ever bought. Cranks fast and holds a charge for a good while when cranking for quite awhile before going flat. It did almost die when trying to start it earlier this month but that's probably because I never put a battery tender on it for the last 5 months it's been sitting in the shop.

They sell these tiny little blue lithium battery's at my local shop and they work good but I mean to me a battery is a battery I can never really tell a difference between different brands but the nice thing about the small size is if you have a air box that relocates the battery it's nice because it really helps save on space

Anything Interstate. I swear by them, had them last 10-12 years in some of my cars. Never had a quad or bike long enough with one in it to know how long they last, but even after sitting all winter in storage they fired up every time.

Yuasa Magnapower Interstate.... all good for lead acid batteries ....if you get the AGM or gell that is factory activated . I have noticed though that interstate has like a 5 year life and then gets a dead cell or something. I prefer lithium though.lot more power.

I also just bought a Battery Mart Big Crank AGM style (in house brand) battery for the rancher and haven't had any issues with it yet. I just bought it last month though so haven't really had a chance to give it a workout either.

Thanks guys. I just ordered this one off ebay, lower priced, ugly yellow, but has 160CCA. I read 23 different reviews on this battery from past year, all positive and not a bad word about it. Ready to go out of the box, most said they couldn't believe the cranking power. I'm going to have to buy another battery also, this one will go in the KTM hybrid and we'll let you now what I think when I get it.

i bought this one off ebay about a month ago. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GEL-YT12A-BS-YTX12A-BS-Battery-Suzuki-GSXR-750-1000-GSF1250-Bandit-GSX1300R-Busa-/360651867077?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f886c3c5&vxp=mtr. never seen or heard much about them, but i figured for about $35 if it only lasted a few years not much lost. fits right in the box no problems and i think its rated somewhere around 210cca. i got a 416 11:1 and it has no problems cranking and starting. whoops it over better than mine buddies regular battery with stock motor and wb cam.

Thats cheap!!! They have one for the 400ex for a little more, but that one would fit. They have no CCA ranking on them though. ? Thanks for the input, just for fun I might order this one and see what it does and how long it last in the 406EX.

think i read a review somewhere and they had it tested and its between 180-210 cca. its the same size as a 400ex battery but you get a lot more cca than the 125cca stock batteries.

Just bought it for 31.90 for giggles. I'll compare it to the higher dollar gel battery I just ordered. Funny how the same battery for the EX is more and a little less amps.....

Don't buy this battery....http://www.ebay.com/itm/GEL-YT12A-BS-YTX12A-BS-Battery-Suzuki-GSXR-750-1000-GSF1250-Bandit-GSX1300R-Busa-/360651867077?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f886c3c5&vxp=mtr

Its junk. Put trickle charger on and it went green in a few seconds, so thought it was charged. Put in 406EX and has less cranking power than the old 7 yr. old napa battery!!! Few cranks and it was done. Put 4 amp charger on it for a few minutes and hit boost and it cranked over and ran. Ran for a few minutes and shut off and put trickle charger on for the night. This morning tried starting, no cranking power and wouldn't start, a few attempts and battery is done for. Be shipping it back most likely. Still waiting for the other Gel battery to arrive and see how it does.

The battery is cranking over 406EX like a champ now!!!!!!! I was gone all day yesterday and left the trickle charger on it, and all night. Got up this morning and its 32 degrees out, warmer in garage but still colder than yesterday. I went out and hit the start button and sucker cranked at least 3 times as strong and started immediately....couldn't believe it. I thought maybe I had a dud also. I read on "internet" that I should get a gel trickle charger, but also read as long as its a slow trickle charge, mine is only 1.5, that it would be ok, gel just needs slow charge to not overheat them. I wonder since they marked down the battery it had been setting for a long time on the shelf, and had dropped charge....and just needed a longer time to get a the slow charge I put in back up to where it needed....?

YES. Both of them. The Orange cheaper one is in the 400EX, it cranks about 1 second and turns over, but it has choke removed, Web cam and WB CDI.

The more expensive Yellow battery went in the KTM 520 hybrid quad....as soon as you touch the starter button it fires up, don't even hear it crank.
