Sorry for this stupid thread. I'm prolly gonna buy a 2014 FX4 EcoBoost F150 SuperCrew Cab,
and I don't want to get the wrong bed.. I like the look of the 5.5' bed more then the 6.5' bed.

I want to be able to close the tailgate with my Stock Length 2007 400ex in bed of the truck..
I hate having to strap it in because the tailgate wont shut.. I still strap my quad, to keep it
from moving around, but I don't like to HAVE TO strap it in.. Thanx for you input with this..

Thanx,
Rob

Wont work, you need the 6.5 long bed to close the tailgate with the quad in there. 5.5 bed means your gonna have to strap it with tailgate down.

Or if you're like me and put a toolbox in my shortbed, you'll have to have the dang tailgate down. Be sure to strap it on good and put blocks behind the tires.

I have the F150 FX4 short bed and yes you can't latch the tailgate but I sure don't leave it down. I can get it within maybe 8" of closing it so I put a strap from the latch area of the tailgate to the hook in the bed and tug the strap tight so the tailgate is pushing the quad forward and against the front of the bed. Of course I still strap the quad in as well but only put one strap on it because with the tailgate pushing against it is not going anywhere. I don't think I have any pics but will look.

I have to do the same kinda thing with my Rancher in my 6.5' bed on the Dodge. I've been thinking of getting one of those bed extenders in so I know it isn't going anywhere.
