Picked up this baby last night.. Runs but needs a top end. I'm the second owner, PO only ever drove it in the winter so theres some rust starting but I think I'm going to take it down to the frame.

Not sure if I'm going to flip it or build an XC bike yet.

Maybe haha, the PO didn't really do anything to it since he bought it new in 08

I assumed you guys had them too when they are stock. Every bike I've ever bought here comes with them on it lol.. maybe it's how the justify a 25% higher price tag up here haha

Hahaha I never find deals around me like this!

I changed the ugly bars that came on it, put the front fenders back on and ordered a new solenoid and fuse holder. It's also missing the battery cover if someone wants to sell one cheap.

For just an hour it looks a lot better already!

Haha I'm kind of leaning that way..

The story on this bike was the PO had stored it for a year then tried to drive it in -40 weather and it wouldn't start (battery is weak, solenoid is shot) so it wouldn't start or wouldn't stay running. So the guy brings it to his Honda dealer and they did a compression test and tell him the comp. is way too low and that he needs a new top end so he listed it "needs a top end".

I bought it knowing I'd have to dip into the engine but I figured it was only a top end (no way to check the oil filter as he'd just changed it and it hadn't run with it in)

So I throw the charger on it while I'm at work and when I show up to see if the battery holds a charge it fires right up and idles clean. There's nothing wrong with it! It probably needs new intakes (guy never adjusted them since it was new)

Right now I'm looking at either buying a ported head with good SS valves or replacing the intakes myself and trying to do "clean up" (minimal) porting to the head.. I'm pretty pumped it runs and has no shavings in the filter though:macho

Build an xc bike you won't regret it

If you dont mind me asking what's the Baja claw in the corner of the pic looks like it's on something pretty cool

I think the XC build is going to happen the more I think about it.. :uhoh:

Our buddy is in our shop for a few weeks doing some work on his hill shooting buggy. It's so badass he's made pretty well everything chassis wise from scratch!

Pretty cool my buddy had a rock bouncer but he just sold it and is in the process of building an 800+hp Ls powered koh buggy

Haha that sounds sick! There isn't really a scene around here for them and we live in a pretty flat spot.. I'm not really sure what he's going to do with it. It'spretty cool though, I've never seen one before.

Yeah luckily it's pretty hilly around here but they still make sweet trail rigs
