I ain't got no pictures BUT I WANNA SEE IT!

I'd think the easiest thing to do would be to find an old 250r chassis. Since your biggest obstacle will more than likely be the routing of the exhaust and the 250 chassis works as it is with the 250 exhaust.
Or look for an aftermarket roller on here... Laeger CT, JB, Walsh, PRP, Viper, Lobo, ect.

In my opinion, unless your using an aftermarket chromoly frame, the CamAm DS450 chassis is the way to go...it weighs nothing and the "people" say it handles great.

Is the pipe a custom made pipe? The pipe fitment always seem to be the issue with these builds.

GIXXERBOB used a Pro Circuit CR500 pipe....have a close look at the pics and you can see the 2 places he cut and re-welded it to make it work. I'm amazed at how well it worked out for a non custom pipe.

well before he fogged it and put it away, he rode it 2 or 3 times and it threw him off 2 times, so he is going to sell it and no project will be started on this

Ok! Now ya gotta give us a ride report!

How are the vibes ?

What Pipe did you use ?

That is one sweet 500R!

Ok.. the ride is THE most awesome thing!! The power to me is spot on .. everything you would expect from a big bore two stroke. The handling is great, nothing better than a lightweight yfz with the front just being a little lofty, it actually scales great but the overall weight makes it seem front light, not to mention the 63 horses helping it.

The vibes are the same as the twowheeler, believe it or not they are. I've ridden this quad hard now for two seasons, with no sign of any issues from harmonics, make that any issues period, its very reliable to say the least. Vibes are of course worse on the top end but NOT the unrideable horror stories that we've all heard. The key is definitely in the mounts, and ITS NOT A 250R FRAME!!! C'mon people how many times do we need to slam our d*** in the door before we finally understand that a square tubed frame designed for a motor half as potent will not work!! This does!! A precision antivibe bar mount was used and the nerfs seemed to help as well, oh and make sure the exhaust is FULL rubber mounted too.

I used a FMF knarly pipe... cut, turned, and welded in four different cuts.

And a big thank you for taking interest. I'm glad u like it. :D 1718107715

Oh I bet it is AWESOME! Short shifting it to keep the vibes down and the Torque is unreal! Honda should have made something to compete with the Quadzilla .....but they pussied out!

You did a great job!

Now I'd love the see the guys at DIRTWHEELS do an article on that bike seeing they always sway towards the YAMAHA's.....LOL

Got any VIDEO ?

Did you do a BUILD THREAD anywhere ?

:)

17181079391718107735That's the reason I wanted to build it...because Honda never did, I love this quad. Thanks for all the nice words, I've had this on three other sites and hardly ever heard a word. Thought I built a dud or something, I never did a build thread due to lack of interest. ??? I actually sent Dirt Wheels some pics and they did a shot in the over the bars section last October I believe. No real good video yet, I'll work on that after all this damn snow melts. Its a blast on the ice too!!

She's not a dud if you love to ride her. I think most guys don't know what to say 'cause they want her to be all Honda. If they took her for a ride they would crap. Nice machine. I bet she's a hoot.

Thanks ytman, I've never called it a 500R. CR500 elsinore 4... elsinore from the old Hondas and 4 from the old moto4s, kind of a breed all its own. If Yamaha would have built a liquid open MXer, I woulda went that way, I did have intentions of stayin brand loyal, but this chassis was more or less given to me, so this was my other option. LOL.. my next moves gonna be a quadracer 250 in a yfz for my son. The yfz chassis seems to be very compatible with many hybrid applications. Only a few of us know what a hoot them 500s really are, hey, :D, thanks again bud!

Not really.. some poor quality at best, gonna be awhile before we get rid of all this snow. The ice is unsafe now too, so we're in a lull right now time to set back up for dirt!! Its been a long winter!!171810775817181077591718107923171810792117 18107922....this snow is really pissin me off!! got over a foot today!!

Randall, that 500 is AWESOME!! So want to build one. When the weather breaks get some pics of the mounts that you used on this beast. Would LOVE to build a monster like this for the track. First kick and everyone would know it's not your average YFZ!

roostin randall
04-01-2014, 09:54 AM
Thanks Joe... its really not that bad of a build, just start with the swingarm pivot and the rest just kinda falls into place. Put your order in, lol, it is a track monster for sure!!1718107765 A true yfz smoker, back in stock trim.

there were a million made on trx250r frames. all said the frames would crack. I always said 4 stroke frame would work. but guys do put them in atc250r frames with no issue. I think maybe an article for atvriders.com would be good..
service honda should take note too
